My gratitudes for today:
- I am grateful for unexpected visitors. You never know who will impact you and who you will impact. Be kind always.
- I am grateful for the income that continues to flow into my account.
- I am grateful that I get to share in the lives of my daughters and that my relationship with them is better than it's ever been.
- I am grateful for fresh food that I don’t have to cook. I am grateful for everyone who played a part in getting it to my kitchen.
- I am grateful for unanswered prayers. I am so grateful that the universe knows me so intimately that it blocks things that I think I want because it knows better.
Yep, this is the time that I ask you as the reader to pause and say your gratitudes!
The universe is so funny. I was just sitting here contemplating what I wanted to write about when I heard someone knocking on my door. I never have people knock on my door, so I wasn’t sure what to expect when I opened it.
Just a salesperson. But was it? A young gentleman was standing on my porch asking me to sign up for Spectrum. While I appreciate a good hustle, I don’t have a TV in my space, so Spectrum is simply unnecessary.
He asked what I did in my time if I didn’t watch TV. I told him that I read and actually had time to get things done that I enjoy. This really threw him off. I don’t think he believed that I didn’t have a TV. Don’t get me wrong. I have 2 TV’s in my house but they are in the Airbnb rooms. If I want to watch something, I grab my small Macbook and flip on Netflix or another streaming service. I am not in the dark ages, I just choose to spend my time doing other things.
So, he asked what kind of books I enjoyed reading. I mentioned spiritual books and women empowerment books. He wanted to know more. He started asking if I had heard of this random book and that random book. “No,†I said. Then he said, “Have you heard of Napoleon Hill?" Um, yes, yes I have. I blurt out, “Oh, Think and Grow Rich!†* Great book, if you haven’t read it! I proceeded to list off all kinds of great books similar to "Think and Grow Rich" –
- The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
- The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas Stanley and William Danko
- Ask and It Is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks.
He was so delighted. He asked if he could stop back by and get the list of the books because he didn’t think he would remember the names of them. I agreed to write them all down and leave them in the mailbox for him to pick up tomorrow.
And, just like that a single conversation brought me something I had lost!
I ran and got my copy of “The Secret†by Rhonda Byrne. If you have never read it or watched the documentary by the same name, I highly recommend it.

I wrote out the list and will slide it into this book and gift it to him.
How did this bring me something?
Two days ago, I noticed that my favorite rose quartz ring that I had custom made in India was not on my hand. I assumed that I lost it or it had fallen off. I was very disappointed, but I know how rose quartz works. When the stone can no longer serve you, it will makes its way to someone new.
I checked my room and bedding yesterday just in case. Nothing.
As I got back in bed to finish writing the list of books, I was so excited to give my book away, that I flung the comforter over. Right there, sitting on my bed was my ring. Remarkable.
The more you give, the more you receive.
Please don’t let small interactions with strangers go unnoticed. Find beauty in the small things. Those little conversations could change your life. Stop. Notice. Give. Be Kind.
