I Don't Have Time For "Being"? When I Could Be DOING.

I Don't Have Time For "Being" When I Could Be DOING.

I'm going to tell you a little secret.

But you're probably not going to believe me.

All the same, I would feel bad if I didn't try.

In the 15 years I've been coaching and training business owners how to get to the front of the line in their industry, I've become obsessed with two things: the data and The Woo.

I'm so right-brained, by nature, I tend to tilt violently to the creative/spazztastic side. So I do naturally enjoy the WOO - creativity, energy, intention, the works! Call it quantum field mysteries, law of attraction, reticular activating power, energy of attention, what-have-you. I am here for it

But boy howdy. I have come to love the data as well. I've particularly come to love every piece of data revolving around THIS central question:

1. "How many meetings do you need, per week or per month, with people who can afford you (and will fight to do so) to meet or exceed your revenue goals each month?"

The answer to THIS question points to the other kinds of outcomes, results, and activities we should be measuring. Or getting rid of.

But there is another question, definitely more to the Woo side, that matters just as much:

2. "How much time do you spend - every day - enjoying things that haven't happened yet?"

Most people (especially practical and highly ambitious people) are a bit confused by this question at first. "Why should I be enjoying things that HAVEN'T happened yet?"

Because I promise you, the experiential data is ABSOLUTELY here, from over 800 clients in the past 15 years - those who spend regular time each day enjoying what hasn't happened yet - via meditating, visualizing, or journaling - tend to meet up with that actual reality (sometimes known as "manifestation) much, much faster.

People know this. We hear about this. But we really don't care.

We don't want to spend 5-10 minutes per day (once or twice a day) to deeply immerse ourselves in imagination and things that feel good. We have too much to do. And also, alas, most of us will say we're "no good" at meditation, visualization, imagination.

Fair 'nuff.

That's why I am so, so psyched to be introducing my clients, friends, and audience to?Vishen Lakhiani's incredible "6 Phase Meditation Method." Clients who are doing it daily, once or twice a day, are having nutty results that I"m pretty sure we couldn't produce just with the next iteration of the To-Do List.

  • Cheryl got asked to do a reality show on Netflix. Just happened to stand next to the right person in a long-a$$ line . True Story.
  • Daniel got booked for his highest keynote speech fee ever, at $25K. This is his third year as a speaker.
  • Madelyn got the Fortune 500 client of her DREAMS - for her first ever 7-figure payday.

If you don't have a regular meditation/visualization practice (sometimes known as "active" or "dynamic" meditation) you can get this book on Audible.

The 6 stages of the guided meditation come with it as part of the audio. At the end, You'll be doing all 6 stages together in just 18 minutes a day.

So far, the stages my most intense, type A , A-Player clients are loving the most are Stage 3, The Forgiveness Meditation (for yourself, or others) and Stage 4, the "In 3 Years" Visualization.

Anyway, if you've been looking for some kind of regular practice that will NOT get boring, and will work just fine even if you aren't "good" at this sort of thing, this would be a good one to try.

Our thanks to Mindvalley founder Vishen Lakhiani and all his service to the planet! Go You!!

What about you, LinkedIn leaders and readers? Does imagination, meditation, or visualization play a part in your long game strategy? Do you pay attention to your energy or intention?

What about the (cough!) REGULAR practice/experience of such things?

Another great move? Research shows the more you share your big picture dreams, intentions, or goals, the more likely you are to achieve said goals. Anyone reading this brave enough to share such a Dream Come True for You? or "A Big Win for Me in 2023"?

I love the 6 phase and have been doing it daily for the last several months. I'm also Mindvalley certified as a 6 phase meditation trainer and have recorded my own to make available to my clients. It's a powerful exercise for anyone- whether they identify as "woo" or not.

Ellen, this is such beautiful synchronicity as I was just listening to 2 of Vishen's Youtube videos yesterday on a hike and sent one to my clients and rejoined MindValley as I was intrigued by his description of the 6 phase model for meditation! I used to say I was "only 1 woo" before I moved from the Boston area to Colorado where I have been able to fully embrace my full "woo woo" side! And I appreciate all the scientific research about meditation, so it doesn't even seem "woo" to me! I absolutely believe that our "energy, expectations and alignment or mis-alignment" affects our results more than our "doing". We need the energetics as well as the actions. Meditation didn't come easily or naturally to me at first like most of us, but is so transformative. I love teaching easy tools for manifesting and one of the 1st things my clients have to commit to if they want to experience results is some quiet, meditative time. ?? Thanks for sharing and the great discussion!

I am moving more towards how this practice of visualization and slowing things down allows me to be more intentional and thus can put more into action.
