I don’t care what others think …
While most of my training programs revolve around how people should have a more confident approach to challenges and keep the voices of the world from drowning them, sometimes these voices have a lot of logic. Sometimes, the world tells the truth, yes maybe not in the most civil or polite way, but it does. This truth plays a vital role in your decision-making. A lot of the negative criticism is actually important for you to look at overlooked details, habits and attitudes that are actually bringing you down. While the world may not use the most motivating words and tone, but if you stop to think where it is coming from, perhaps you will be able to note the fear, experience, trauma, etc. that has been seen before by someone else and you could skip it altogether. The negative opinions of others also serve as that fuel that is needed to kick start your dead engine, thus pushing you to act. So the next time you hear comments you do not like, consider these few things before you ignore it :
Who is it coming from: Someone who knows the subject well or just someone random, trying to polish and present ignorance.
Is the opinion sensible: Don’t let your ego get the better of you. If the comment is sensible, take note of it and use it to make your decisions better.
Why are corrections coming to you: Understand the intent. Intent plays an important role as some people have only your best interest in mind. Such people always look out for you.
Smell the challenge: Now, if all of the above is not applicable then listen to what is being said, take it up as a challenge and prove to yourself that you are worth better.
Don’t care about what others say only and only when you are 100% sure that you’ve got it all right.
