No, I Didn’t Read your Blog (And Here’s How You Change It).

Read Time: 2 minutes

You’ve spent a few hours curating the perfect blog. Putting your time and energy into researching and writing about your topic…only to barely get any readers. In today’s world, there is more content than we know what to do with. This makes it even harder for the content you’ve worked hard on to reach the right people. Here are some reasons people aren’t reading your blog and how you fix them.

Your Title is Basic.

The headline is the first thing your reader sees. If it isn’t interesting, there is no reason to click on your blog post. A few questions to ask yourself: Are you keeping your target audience in mind? Are they going to learn something? Are they going to be inspired? When writing your title, think of the four U’s: Urgent, Unique, Useful, Ultra-Specific.?

Nothing Stands Out.

If your reader wanted to read a novel about your topic, they would go to Barnes & Noble. The best blogs are easy on the eyes and break up chunks of text. The more text there is, the more potential there is for the important bits to get lost. Research has shown that the average reader only reads 20% of your post anyway. Utilize formatting options like headings, bold text, italics, quotes, colors, and more.?

It’s Too Long.?

Does your blog post drag on and on? Readers want content that is short and sweet. In addition to breaking up your text, try to only include things that matter and keep your blog at a digestible length.?

It’s Not Interesting.

Do you write like a robot? People want to see personality come through when reading blogs. There needs to be tone and personality when writing content. Even if your topic might not be interesting, make it an experience for the reader.?

Your Graphics Are Boring.?

A picture is worth a thousand words. When people hear information, they’re likely to remember only 10% of it 3 days later. However, when a relevant image is paired with the same information, people retained 65% of the information 3 days later.?

I Didn’t Know You Had a Blog.

You can’t read a blog when you didn’t even know it existed. Just because you built it, does not meant the people will come. Continue to share and share some more your blog posts.?
