I didn't feel like doing this

I really didn’t want to write this newsletter today.

For the past week and a half, in addition to my consulting business, I’ve been spending hours putting in the content and filming the videos for my new product that comes out Wednesday. I mean I am blurry-eyed and just tired of sitting in front of a computer.

I was thinking to myself, I’ve put out this newsletter 43 weeks in a row. Big deal if I miss a week. Right?

Yeah, it’s a big deal. Why and am I telling you this? Two reasons:

1. I never want to be called a hypocrite. I preach to you week after week, dig deep, commit, build your resilience, nothing worthwhile comes easy. And yet, here I was walking away.

2. I know, deep down, that the biggest leaps you can make as a person come when don’t feel like doing something you know will move you ahead, or improve yourself. This is one of those times for me.

I made a commitment to myself to make my contribution to this community each week and I want to keep it. I doubt anyone would have noticed if I missed a week. But I would have.

We develop real calluses and muscles when we push ourselves. That’s when we stay on the road to becoming the best versions of ourselves. When we know we should, but don’t feel like it.

How about you? Want to start a new business, hit a sales goal, or get a promotion? Have you been pushing and pushing and feel like giving yourself a break before you’ve gotten there? I get it. Sorry, do it anyway. I can tell you now that this week’s newsletter is complete, how much better I feel now that it’s done.

So, your Action Item and Mission, should you decide to accept it: Don’t give up. Don’t think you can coast. Take a breath if you need to. But stay in the game. Be the best version of yourself you can be.
