‘I didn’t ask for your opinion’
You can say a lot of things.
I mean the syntax can be anything. Statements can change but what matters is how you make them feel and you should make them feel heard.
For example, when you are asking for opinions in a group of people and someone shares an idea, if you just reply, ‘We have done that before, didn’t work out,’ it will make them feel rejected, and the next time they might not even speak up even if they have a good idea.
So, whatever you say, make them feel heard and accepted, and then be straight with them.
‘I hear you. It’s just not for me.’
‘Thank you for trying to help. I am good for now.’
What do you think about this sentence below:
‘Thank you but what you said does not apply to me.’
It is good?but?there is something that shouldn’t be there. Can you guess what it is? If your guess was ‘but’ then you are right.
A ‘but’ does the same as discarding everything else they did or you said. Whatever you say before a ‘but’ will be ignored and rejected straight away.
Try saying it out loud or let someone else say it to you. You’ll understand what I am talking about.
Anyway, I hope that made some sense and helped.
