I did a thing... I'm retiring from Wells Fargo...
Transitioning from the dynamic world of Information Technology to the enriching field of education has been a remarkable journey. As someone who has always been passionate about technology and its potential to transform lives, I found myself drawn to the idea of shaping the next generation of tech enthusiasts and professionals.
The Beginning: A Passion for Technology
My career in IT began with a fascination for how technology can solve complex problems and create innovative solutions. Over the years, I had the privilege of working on various projects that not only honed my technical skills but also taught me the importance of continuous learning and adaptability. I progressed through various roles, starting from the help desk, moving on to analyst, developer, architect, principal engineer, and eventually reaching the position of vice president. One of my proudest achievements was being a key contributor to moving Wells Fargo to cloud technology, a transformation that significantly enhanced the company’s technological capabilities and efficiency.
The Turning Point: A Desire to Make a Difference
While I enjoyed my time in IT, I realized that my true calling lay in education. The idea of sharing my knowledge and experiences with students and helping them navigate the ever-evolving tech landscape, became increasingly appealing. I wanted to contribute to the field in a more meaningful way, beyond just developing software and managing systems.
The Transition: Embracing a New Role
Making the switch to education was not without its challenges. It required a shift in mindset, from being a practitioner to becoming a mentor and guide. As I prepare to retire from Wells Fargo, where I have had a fulfilling career, I am pursuing additional qualifications in education and pedagogy, and immersing myself in learning about effective teaching methodologies. This decision has been a decade in the making, reflecting my long-standing passion for education. During this period, I also served as an adjunct professor at William Penn University, which provided me with invaluable teaching experience and insights into the academic world. This transition is both exciting and daunting, but the support from my peers and mentors makes it a rewarding experience. I will miss all the wonderful people I worked with at Wells Fargo, but I look forward to keeping in touch with them as I embark on this new chapter.

Personal Struggles: Overcoming Adversity
My journey was also shaped by my experiences as a low-income student. I understand firsthand the challenges that come with financial constraints and the determination required to overcome them. These experiences have instilled in me a deep empathy for students facing similar struggles, and a commitment to providing them with the support and resources they need to succeed. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems and a Master of Information Management, which equipped me with the foundational knowledge and advanced skills necessary for my career.
The Present: Shaping Future Innovators
Starting this fall, I will be a full-time professor at William Penn University. This new role allows me to inspire and guide students who are as passionate about technology as I am. I focus on creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment, where students can explore, experiment, and excel. My background in IT allows me to bring real-world insights into the classroom, bridging the gap between theory and practice.
Embracing AI: Bringing Cutting-Edge Tools to the Classroom
One of my key interests is integrating AI tools and technologies into the curriculum. I believe that artificial intelligence has the potential to revolutionize education, making learning more personalized, efficient, and engaging. By introducing students to AI, I aim to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a tech-driven world. This includes hands-on projects, collaborations with industry experts, and staying updated with the latest advancements in AI. Additionally, I am excited to lead a suite of AI tools for the college, ensuring that both faculty and students have access to the latest technologies to enhance their learning and teaching experiences.
Looking Ahead: Continuing the Journey
As I continue on this path, I am committed to staying abreast of the latest advancements in technology and education. I believe that the intersection of these fields holds immense potential for innovation and growth. My goal is to empower students with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in the digital age, and to foster a lifelong love for learning.
