I did it my way……..
Great leaders develop and adapt their leadership style!

I did it my way……..

Frank Sinatra had the right idea: He did it his way...

Over the years, I've seen that all great leaders develop and adapt their leadership style……and do it their way.

?

We all have our strengths - things that we enjoy and seem to come naturally to us, and we all have things we have seen to struggle with and find more challenging but are not so well equipped to do.

?

Recognising our strengths and weaknesses is crucial to being a great leader.?

The world's most significant leaders are crystal clear on the areas in which they excel and where they bring their talents, value and vision to the business.?

They're also very aware of the things they struggle with and the areas they might need to work on or bring in external support to deliver successfully.

?

"It's not the mountain we conquer but ourselves."

-- Sir Edmund Hillary

No one leader can do it all…….no matter how hard we try.

?

The skill is not in doing it all by ourselves.?

Great leaders find their authentic leadership style, and they find a way of leading others that embraces our desire to help others be successful.

"To get what you want, you must first help others get what they what, thats servient leadership."

Of course, there are many 'how to' leadership books and programmes out there…..but most are missing the point.?

Teaching someone to become a great leader isn't about simply giving them a set of leadership strategies and telling them to apply them in their business.

?

It's about helping them understand their leadership journey, helping them realise what they have to offer and where they need support and growth.?

It's about assisting them to see how best they can inspire and motivate their employees to join them on their journey to their vision.

Consistently communicating a clearly defined vision is the first cornerstone of leading with motivational intelligence.?

"The secret of leadership is simple: Do what you believe in. Paint a picture of the future. Go there. People will follow."?

- Seth Godin.

?

There's no one size fits all approach. Still, a common critical factor for successful leaders is centred around mindset and your ability to communicate, challenge and change the dominant thought patterns of those around you.

?

Just because someone is classified as a leader doesn't mean they can lead.?

There is a global shortage of great leaders; if you do, believe me, take some time to look around you, at politics, businesses and organisations; why do you think we have the great resignation??

"41 per cent of people are likely to consider leaving their jobs within the next 12 months."

-- Microsoft business study 2021

Times and people are changing; as leaders, we must also be ready and willing to change.

It's something we have to work on and learn if we want to achieve our desired business success.

?

That's why Motivational Intelligence (MQ) is the guiding light for people who are leading businesses, organisations and teams.?

Leading with Motivational Intelligence (MQ) helps you develop a growth mindset, embrace and adapt more readily to change and thrive during times of turbulence and transition, and become more accountable, adaptable and resilient, maximising human potential.

?

To be a truly great leader, individuals must give themselves permission to learn, grow and deliver on their vision while helping their employees do the same.

?

"If you can't swallow your pride, you can't lead. Even the highest mountain had animals that step on it."?

- Jack Weatherford.

?

There are many core principles of being a great leader - being someone who can inspire, communicate effectively, motivate, innovate and create.

?

But many of these qualities must be nurtured and learned - they don't come naturally; that's a myth.

We've all heard the phrase "natural born leader" before. It's this pervasive belief that leadership is an innate skill that some people have, and others don't.

Leaders are made, not born: The ability to effectively lead, motivate and direct a group of people – whether in business, sport or politics - requires a very complex set of skills, mainly acquired through experiences, self-development and access to subsequent training.

To expect a person to be born a fully rounded leader who can influence and direct their team doesn't make sense based on what we know about group dynamics.

?

Some leaders find it hard to challenge their abilities and take a long hard look at the things they can do well or not. But we can't grow unless we self-reflect on our strengths and weaknesses.?

We can't succeed in life or business unless we are willing, able and ready to grow.

People create the organisational culture; people make the change. The leadership characteristics required to drive innovation culture adaptation and organisational change are more important today than ever in history.

"Management is about persuading people to do things they do not want to do, while leadership is about inspiring people to do things they never thought they could."

- Steve Jobs.

According to a report from McKinsey and Co, change is occurring 10 X faster, at a 300 x greater scale with 3000 x more impact; a new level of an organisational manager and leader is required.

Something fundamental is changing within the business world. Organisations, companies, and businesses anticipating and adapting to these profound shifts will have the best chance of succeeding in the new era.

Our motivational intelligence leadership framework focuses on mindsets and human behaviours that enable successful leaders to face and overcome the challenges encountered during rapid change, implementation of innovation and transitional times, equipping them with the skills to promote transition and drive change levels within the organisation.
