UPTEC joins 1,5M€ iberian consortium to promote digital solutions in health
The INNOV4LIFE consortium project?aims to facilitate the validation of digital solutions in the area of Health, with a special focus on issues related to dementia and cognitive degeneration.Led by the Universidade do Porto , through the Competence Centre for Active and Healthy Ageing – Porto4Ageing , this consortium also includes the Galician Health Service, the University of Santiago de Compostela, the Galician Axencia de Co?ecemento en Saúde, the AFAGA Alzheimer and the Santa Casa da Misericórdia Riba de Ave - Hospital Narciso Ferreira .
Build.ing among the eight best cleantech ideas in Europe
build.ing continues on the path of achievements, having been one of the eight startups that competed in the European final of ClimateLaunchpad , the largest cleantech competition in the world. The startup incubated at UPTEC?was one of the eight chosen to participate in the European final of the program that supports the best innovative climate technologies.The startup participated in the European semi-final of ClimateLaunchpad to reach the final stage, which featured 42 companies from 17 countries. In addition to Build.ing , simby.pt and Santa Farm Technology competed, respectively 1st and 2nd classified in the Portuguese edition of the competition.
Insect-based food alternative wins Portuguese final of Empowering Women in Agrifood
Insect-based food alternatives, adoption of vineyards, and reuse of agrifood waste and by-products were the three winning ideas of the 4th edition of the Portuguese final of Empowering Women in Agrifood, the EIT Food programme, implemented in Portugal with the collaboration of UPTEC, and Portuguese Women in Tech , and whose final took place on November 8th, at the HF Fénix Lisboa Hotel. CORIAL , by Sara Martins , intends to launch several insect-based food alternatives and won the first prize of €10,000. Protein bars, pasta, biscuits, hamburgers and other everyday food products are some of the products that CORIAL will produce to replace less sustainable food alternatives, to slow down the consumption of natural resources, while providing consumers with high-quality protein foods.
Intuitivo guarantees an investment of 400 thousand euros in Stage Two
Intuitivo , a startup incubated at UPTEC,?was one of the eleven companies that received investment in the Stage Two programme. The company that operates in edtech raised 400 thousand euros from b2venture , one of Europe’s most experienced venture investors.The startup led by Jo?o Guimar?es was one of the highlights at the event held in Berlin, having received one of the largest investments – the third largest –, in what is an essential step towards contributing to the future growth of the Porto headquartered company.

Innovative wave energy converter wins BluAct
Rotating wave energy converter, fish-based dog and cat snacks, and water purification process through microalgae. Mobile digital microscopy grants Fraunhofer Portugal its third patent of the year
The solution developed by Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS , Research Institute installed at UPTEC, has received a European patent, the third in 2023. This mobile technology automatically acquires and digitalises biological samples, which could complement conventional microscopy. Since 2013, FhP-AICOS has been developing applied technology in the field of mobile microscopy, starting with the creation of an automated tool to support the diagnosis of malaria. The solution developed at the time used the computing, sensing and performance capabilities of conventional smartphones to automate the process of acquiring, digitalizing and processing biological samples.?
UPTEC startups present innovations to the industrial sector of Famalic?o
UPTEC?joined?forces with the Município de Famalic?o to, through Famalic?o Made In , promote the Showcase 2.0, an initiative that took place on November 29th, at TMG Group’s headquarters in Vale S.Cosme.In this showcase focused on “Industrial Innovation“, eight startups presented their ideas and business models in a pitch to entrepreneurs and investors, four of them from UPTEC: Azitek , Infinite Foundry , TakeCarbon and Value Negotiation Technologies .
