I created #thingsyouhearinagencies but today I walk away from @AgencyQuotes
A year after creating the Twitter hashtag #thingsyouhearinmeetings in 2011, I created #thingsyouhearinagencies. It was so popular that it caught Nick Entwistle’s attention and he invited me to collaborate to make the hashtag something bigger. In August 2012, we set up @AgencyQuotes.
Since then, we’ve shared over 20,000 tweets to over 10,000 followers around the world, and released two books. But today, I walk away from @AgencyQuotes so that I am no longer in any way connected to Nick or his @OneMinuteBriefs Twitter account.
Last Friday, Nick once again set a provocative One Minute Brief that would undoubtedly encourage entries that could cause offence. He has taken no responsibility for his actions. In fact, he has endorsed offensive entries and shown support for members of his community who have attacked and abused those who eloquently educated and informed on the issues raised.
Ali Hanan, founder of Creative Equals, was just one of the people on the receiving end of such disrespectful responses. I am a Creative Equals Night School trainer and continue to fully support Ali and her objectives for this incredible and important initiative. Thankfully there are many other women and men who also support her, and are committed to change.
We are all in a position to help end misogyny and sexism – but only if we are willing to do so.

6 年Well done, Vicky (and what Paul said!). The whole thing has been a real eye-opener for me. I think even the average 16 year old hormone-ravaged boy would find the ads offensive.

6 年Yeah, it's the "I never dreamed a brief about Pearl Necklaces would produce sexist ads" stance that's most annoying.
