I Created 365 Daily Videos on Linkedin - This is what I learnt

Happy New Year! So this was my last video of 2019. I had started out the 365-day video journey after being inspired by 'Nas Daily'.

To say it was a challenge will be just the tip of the iceberg. The journey taught me so much about content creation; self-awareness; marketing and creativity. Here's sharing some of the learnings.

  1. Content Is King/ Queen/ Monarch ( Whatever you choose to call it ) : The link I shared above is the most-watched daily video of 2019. Shot in my verandah, on my smartphone, with minimal make - up and a ?1000/- mic. It tells the story of 'Super 30' founder, Anand Kumar. I have shot and planned much higher quality videos with more 'relevant' content but this shows that the audience's vote matters. If the storytelling and the content is good, your videos will reach more people.
  2. Distribution Is Key: I had mixed reviews for my videos based on the channels. Career advice, entrepreneurship, public speaking videos performed better on Linkedin. On FB and Instagram, it was more about motivational or fun/ trending topics. YouTube did great when there were thumbnails or a title image to the video - also, longer videos would work better than just 1 minute. I hope to create tailored content for each platform in future.

3. Book Reviews Rule: Reading is in vogue. My book review videos were highly popular. The review of 'My Journey With Vada Pav' - Venkatesh Iyer's book on his success story by building the business of 'Goli Vada Pav' was very popular.

4. Self-development and awareness is on everyone's mind: While I started creating videos primarily for public speaking; communication and personal branding, I started noticing that everyone is trying to be a better version of themself and they love content around it. So I refocused my energy on sharing some strategies that worked with my personal and professional struggles and it sparked interesting debates and discussions. This led to me examining my schedule and mindset and working a bit more on discipline and planning. I shared my journey from being a teacher to a video creator in my 300th video -

I learnt a lot from my journey and I would love to hear which was your fave video! Thank you for listening, sharing and following my 365-day video journey. Cheers to 2020!
