“I Couldn’t Make A Sale Even In A Gunpoint”

“I Couldn’t Make A Sale Even In A Gunpoint”

If I had a dollar for every time, I heard that sentence, then I would probably have lots of dollars ??

People tend to say that they are not a salesperson, despite the fact the we all sell every day. Yes, even now while you are reading this article, I actually sold you something...

That’s correct, you didn’t payed me with cash or credit, you paid me with your time (of reading so far), and instead I gave you a nice article, which I hope by the end of you reading this, it will be worth your time.

How Do We Define A Sale?

In the simplest way, we define sale as an action that been made by two parties, while one side provide a service or a product, and the other side provide cash or other goods in exchange. But the real question here is “does a sale, is still a sale even if we don’t have to pay for it?”. And the answer for that is “HELL YA!”

On our daily base, we interact with our family, co-workers, managers, employees, clients and lots of other people along the day, and basically, those interactions can be translated to so called “Mini-Sales-Actions” (MSA).

The MSA is an action been made by two parties, while one side wants to deliver a message, and the other side wants to deliver his own message. You might think about conversation or interaction or dialogue, they are all right and in the end they all have them have pretty much the same goal which is to deliver a message, get a response (that suits you), or basically to sell you opinion. Your side of the party.

 Our Daily MSA Routine

So, if we do make Mini Sales Action every day, and all day long, then aren’t we suppose to be a great salesperson? Well, unfortunately no ??

To make an actual sale, or to be a professional salesperson, one must dedicate his passion for this occupation, after all – passion is probably the must important commodity a salesperson should have.

But our mini sales actions along the day, can contribute to each and everyone of us in our life and in our daily job, regardless if you are a salesperson or not.

The benefits of understanding and learning the basics of the art of selling, are crucial fundamentals in any great communication or relationship, and that’s why today more then ever, leaders around the world are required to have so called “selling” abilities in order to lead their teams and clients ahead.

The best boss I had, used to say all the time “I couldn’t make a sale even in a gunpoint”, and he didn’t make any sale (that was my job), but he did had the skills and the attention of a salesperson, and that was the thing that made him such a great boss.

In Conclusion

If you want to become a better leader (partner, manager etc.), I recommend to spend some time with your sales team, to follow sales professionals on your favorite’s social media channels, and to invest time by understanding the things that make a salesperson a good one. If you will do so, I can assure you that your job will be much more beneficial to you.
