If I Could Do 1 Thing for the Rest of My Life, It’s Writing.

If I Could Do 1 Thing for the Rest of My Life, It’s Writing.

You're probably aware by now, I'm a writer. I've been doing it in some form or fashion since I can remember. I know it's what I was made for because I'm actually good at it.

When I lean into my writing style and niche's (which is content writing), my posts rarely come back for revision.

It makes me happy.

Reading Good Writing Is Like Art.

I geek out about storytelling, prose, poetry, and beautiful sentences.

There is nothing more gratifying in my line of work than taking an idea and communicating it in a way that educates and entertains readers.

When my captions or blog posts flow like an unchained melody, my heart actually sings. It's pure joy, and makes my day.

The Japanese call it Ikigai, or “a reason for being.” It's the space where what you like, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for all intersect.

Writing is my Ikigai.

I've honed my craft over the years by constantly reading, studying different styles and techniques, and practising.

More Than Words on a Page

Writing is not just about putting words on a page; it's about an experience for the reader.

When I read something that resonates with me, it feels like that person has reached out and touched my soul. And as a writer, I strive to do the same for my readers.

I want to spark inspiration, provoke thought, and ignite emotion in those who take the time to read my words.

Because at the end of the day, what truly matters is how we make others feel. And I believe that good writing has the power to do just that.

How to Explore Your Ikigai

Author, Hector Garcia, wrote 'Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life'. It's one of many books out there that help you explore purpose and fulfilment in life by aligning these four components. And writing can be a powerful tool in uncovering your ikigai.

Finding your Ikigai, is helpful in any aspect of life, but especially when crafting a niche for your business or personal brand. Why? Because if you're choosing your adventure, you might as well be mapping out a path you'll enjoy (even when the going gets rough).

To find your Ikigai, start by asking yourself these four questions:

  1. Identify your passions: What activities make you lose track of time and bring you joy? These are likely things that align with your Ikigai.
  2. Understand what you're good at: Take an inventory of your skills and strengths. What comes naturally to you? What have others praised you for?
  3. Consider what the world needs: Think about the problems or needs in the world that interest you. How can your skills and passions be used to address these needs?
  4. Determine what people will pay for: Your Ikigai should also be financially viable. Research potential markets and industries where your skills and passions can be monetized.

Answering these questions honestly and thoughtfully will help you identify your passions, strengths, and opportunities in the market. It's important to note that your Ikigai may not necessarily be one specific thing, but a combination of different aspects of your life.

For example, if you love teaching, are good at public speaking, and the world needs more educators, your Ikigai could be found in starting a consulting business where you offer workshops and lectures on various topics.

Or if you love photography, have a talent for capturing candid moments, and people are always looking for photographers to capture their special events, your Ikigai could be found in building a freelance photography business.

Once you have identified your Ikigai, it's important to create a strategy around it. This includes setting goals, determining your target audience, and creating a unique brand identity. The key is to stay true to your authentic self and showcase what makes you stand out from others in the market.

Journaling to Discover Your Ikigai

Through writing, we can discover our passions and strengths, reflect on ways to make an impact in the world, and even explore potential career paths.

Writing allows us to dive deep within ourselves and articulate our thoughts and feelings. It helps us understand ourselves better and gain clarity on our desires and goals.

In addition, sharing our writing with others can bring a sense of connection and community. By expressing ourselves through words, we can connect with like-minded individuals and find support and encouragement.

Moreover, writing allows us to explore different perspectives and ideas. It opens our minds to new possibilities and helps us expand our thinking beyond our own limited beliefs.

So take some time today to sit down with a pen and paper or your computer, and start exploring your ikigai through writing. Write about your passions, your strengths, the impact you want to make in the world, and any potential career paths you are interested in.

Don't worry about making everything perfect or having all the answers. Just let your thoughts flow freely on the page. You may be surprised at what insights you uncover about yourself.

Finding your true passion, like writing for me, can make a huge difference in both work and life. I once struggled to balance a career that paid the bills with what truly fulfilled me. Focusing on what I love helped me align my work with my values. For more inspiration, check out this resource: notion.habit10x.com/AH007? #wxdv
