If I Click a Link, Will I Get Hacked?

Clicking on a link can lead to getting hacked mainly in two ways:
· Malware: Malware is harmful software designed to steal your sensitive information. One common way malware gets into your device is through phishing links. If you click on such a link, malware can silently install itself on your device. Once it's there, it can log your keystrokes, take screenshots, access your camera and microphone, and even spread to other devices on the same network.
·?Spoofed websites: Cybercriminals create fake websites that look like legitimate ones, such as banking or shopping sites. They include links to these fake sites in phishing emails or text messages. If you click on one and enter your personal information, like login details or credit card numbers, the criminals can use this information to hack your real accounts, leading to financial loss.
Accidentally clicking a phishing link can be scary, but taking quick action can help protect your data. Here's what to do:
·?Disconnect from the Internet: As soon as you click a phishing link, disconnect your device from the internet. This can stop malware from spreading and prevent hackers from accessing your device remotely.
·?Change Your Passwords: If you entered your login details on a fake website, change your password for that account right away. Use a strong password and, if you use the same password elsewhere, change those too. Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for extra security.
·?Freeze Your Cards: If you entered credit card or financial information, freeze your card immediately. You can do this through your bank's app or by calling them. Let your bank know you were scammed so they can cancel your current card and send you a new one.
·?Scan Your Device: Use antivirus software to scan your device for malware. If malware is found, the software can remove it. If your device still has issues, consider doing a factory reset, but make sure to back up your data first.
Taking these steps can help protect your personal information and keep your device safe.
