I Choose to Celebrate and Honor July 4th!
Martin Luther King Jr. gave a speech on July 4, 1965, about the Declaration of Independence that really sums up the power of what American independence means:?
“Never before in the history of the world has a sociopolitical document expressed in such profound, eloquent and unequivocal language the dignity and the worth of human personality. The American dream reminds us—and we should think about it anew on this Independence Day—that every man is an heir of the legacy of dignity and worth.”?
So, this Independence Day, I invite us all to take a step back to cherish our lives and the country we are lucky to live in. It’s a great day to?celebrate and honor?the bravery and sheer nerve of the Founding Fathers and early Americans. No matter what historical perspective we choose to put them in, it's undeniable that their actions and sacrifices gave us the freedoms and independence we enjoy today.?
In fact, in the same vein as their own total commitment to an independent United States, let each one of us make a promise ourselves: that as long as we live, we will be good citizens of our country to the best of our abilities; that we will do everything in our power to help America grow into a better nation with each passing day; and that we will honor the dignity and worth to which all of us are heir.?
May this Independence Day bring prosperity and harmony to you, your family and may the stories of courage from the Founding Fathers, from our troops and veterans, and from every great American who has ever lived the American Dream for themselves inspire you to achieve great things in your own life.?
?Proud to have served and Happy Fourth of July!?
