I changed the way I visit a museum

Since I started my visit at MoMA, this time, I thought? that there’s a meaning for those artworks to be there, as I was exploring one of the world’s most important contemporary art museums. Those artworks truly made it!
For the first time ever, I stopped by every single artwork, paying close attention to all the details, including listening to the audios. Many pieces allow us to hear the artists themselves talking about their art, their inspirations, challenges, techniques, or any hidden curiosities within their work. Why do not hear them, right?
There are also reasons why one piece of art was placed beside another, and it’s evident that a lot of thought went into this curation. It’s a job that often goes unnoticed when we rush through the entire museum in just a couple of hours.
Instead, this time, I spent 2.5 hours on a small part, and I think I saw around 20 artworks, or even fewer. But this time, I didn’t just “see” them; I immersed myself in each one, truly feeling its essence. I had no rush and no goal other than to be present for every single artwork, appreciate the artists behind them, and acknowledge the hard work of the museum’s curators.
I feel that the way I visit a museum, and even more significantly, the way I perceive art, has changed forever. In fact, for the first time ever, I cried in an art museum.
And it was a wonderful experience.
