IF I WAS THE CEO OF DISNEY

The Social Media Program for the 21st Century where all people can be heard for positive change around the world

This is based on a series of 10, called “If I was the?”  This is the first of this series that will be promoted all over the world. There are no names for any of these ideas. But only what-ifs. The ideas came from Disney Pass holders, Disney Cast Members, Retired Disney folks and from the countless folks from around the world who love and cherish Disney.  This is to start conversations from the young to the old. To add ideas and dialog on how to actually implement these ideas.  Stay tuned for the next in the series, “If I was the CEO of FACEBOOK.”  

I am not an expert in grammar, so there may be some mistakes here and there, this is not meant to be perfectly edited, nor am I perfect in any way. This is meant to start and drive dialog and the narrative that can be shared from ordinary folks to executives. It gets folks to listen and to think on their own.  I wanted this dialog to be honest and from the heart so that all of us can have a say in this creative process.  Again, this is meant for conversations to start and not to end.

 First up!

1.    I would build the original EPCOT, the true one and only, Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Mr. Walt Disney’s Vision of what EPCOT would have been like he would have loved to see it completed in the early seventies.  It will be a world showcase based on a tomorrow of what could have been and can happen today! I would make EPCOT the largest resort at Walt Disney World. There would be no government red tape with a resort-type platform in play. This is a way to show the world where ideas can happen and be implemented. Visitors to the park would get a bird’s eye view of what it would be like to work and to live in a community where there was no traffic, no major worries or stress and where folks would actually love to work and play here.  On top of all that, it would be next to the happiest place on earth. There would be Think Tanks where you would be rewarded with your ideas and actually see them come to life! Walt’s Dream comes true-Finally.

2.    I would reward cast members with a real Cast Center made up of a large grocery store, retail stores, gas station, medical facility, a furniture store, eyeglasses store, shoe store, cake shop, Movie Theater, investment store, and a restaurant. All at 50% off civilian prices. One built at every park across the world dedicated to Cast Members and their families. 

3.   I would hire Kevin Feige as the next CEO

4.   I would build a “Wreck-It Ralph” Internet into one huge Movie Sound Stage on 20 acres and build the world’s first Virtual and gaming experience centered on the Movie. Everyone that would experience this magical world of the Internet as problem solvers and be rewarded with prizes, food and Disney Merchandise at the end of the experience. Solve the Virus Problems with Cyber-Security solving entertainment built-in.

5.   I would make all resorts tip worthy from the housekeepers to the lifeguards to the chefs and even to the concierges.   A sign would go up everywhere “Please tip your cast members who have taken great care of you during your stay with us!

6.   I would take the closed down Discovery Island on Bay Lake at Walt Disney World and turn it into a true Star Wars EWOK Village complete with a resort-like atmosphere as if it was on the Forest Moon Endor. Getting there only by boat, zip line and by the use of VTOL Air Taxis.

7.   I would make every resort micro-manageable so there was less turnover amongst cast members. More of a family-like atmosphere. Presently all resorts are Macro managed.  This way there would be more focus on issues across all segments. Presently, it is odd to do it this way with so many individually themed resorts and Vacation Club locations. 

8.  I would buy the BOND, STAR TREK, and THE MISSION IMPOSSIBLE franchises.  Possibly TOP GUN?

9.   The technology exists today to build a Holodeck, I would definitely look into bringing that experience to the Disney Parks around the world before a competitor does.

10.  Total Recall technology from the movie Total Recall actually exists today and should be available in a Disney Imagineering Platform for anyone around the world to experience this travel platform without getting on a plane or leaving your own home. I would make it available as an “in-home entertainment feature platform for the disabled.

11.  I would give tours inside the Millennium Falcon- I would bring Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford and other Star Wars Cast Members in for guest appearances twice a year as a surprise for all ticket and pass holders.

12.  I would bring a Marvel, Star Wars, and an Avatar Cosplay event to Hollywood Studios once a year that would be like no other in the world.  Showcase upcoming movies and potential park rides and events to the thousands of guests from around the world who will love to participate.  Much like the Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT.

13.  I would bring Walt back as an impersonator who looked and talks the part to each park worldwide so younger generations could actually feel and see his presence and get a clue of how it all began with “One Man’s Dream!”

14.  I would make Disney Plus larger by acquisitions and produce TV shows and films at Hollywood Studios Florida with tax breaks from the State of Florida.  

15.  I would make Hollywood Studios a working film studio again at Disney World to compete with the state of Georgia Feature and TV production. It would be called Walt Disney Productions, East. We would drive filming and entertainment here to Florida like it was in the ’90s.

16.  I would have Disney memorabilia auctions worldwide with Disney Signage, artwork, old rides, and artifacts from the closed MGM/Disney Studios prop room. These auctions would rub at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland! Money’s raised would go to Disney Charities all over the world.   

17.  I would bring in A-List musical entertainment acts for a once-a-year Disney Appaloosa-ish Concert Festival

That would include a live TV audience participation at ESPN’s Baseball Stadium Park. For all ticket holders on the day of concerts be given a discount to attend each concert. A Country Night, Pop Night and a Broadway way night would be planned.  

18.  Build a Disney Park called “Reminisce.” Made up from the old rides of yesteryear. 

19.  I would build a Disney Old Ride Museum. It would be non-static unlike most museums and would be moving all the time. Folks tour by way of people movers on all eight floors. Charge $39.99 and an experience where you could ride Mr. Toads Wild Ride once again. There would be a merchandise store that would emulate how it was back in the ’50s, ’60s, ‘70s, ’80s and the ‘90s.

Because of the entrance gates that no longer allow the opportunity to park your vehicle and take pictures any longer. This was done so there would be no more danger of would-be photographers and their vehicles posing a threat to others entering the parks from various highways.  Here’s the solution from many upset tourists wanting to have their picture taken when they first arrive at the parks from around the world.

20.  I would build a picture-taking opportunity within a fenced-in mini-park that would present giant 40-foot statues of your favorite Disney Characters on Osceola Parkway to the Animal Kingdom from I4. I would build another Mini-picture taking park that would host all the Disney Princesses at 40 feet tall from I4 on World Drive all the way to the parking entrance pavilion of Magic Kingdom. It will be for (Park ticket holders only)! The only way to get to the Mini Park is via Disney’s Monorails, Skyliner’s, or Disney Bus’s from each of the parks. This entertainment platform would be a picture-taking event complete with food stalls and merchandise wagons that are enclosed with see-through gating protecting ticket holders from the highway.  The Length of the Disney Characters mini-park would be 1.2 miles long off of World Drive and 1.4 miles along Osceola Parkway from I4! 

21.  I would build the first Princess Resort catering to all the little girls and their mothers

22.  I would build an Underwater Vacation Club Resort in Tahiti-Arial’s Un-da Da Sea Resort and Spa

23.  I would build and be air-ready VTOL Air taxis-picking up guests from resorts and taking them to the Air-taxi pads at each of the parks. This technology and safety features exist today.

24.  I would build the first Imagineering University for students from all over the world to attend for free. These students would be handpicked based on enthusiasm, grades, willingness to overcome all odds and the fortitude of making things work even though it’s impossible.

25.  I would initiate the first VR “Soarin” Experience for inflight entertainment across all world-class airlines. This entertainment platform would cover 15-minute segment experiences from all major tourist areas from around the globe. Instead of a traditional headset, you get a VR eyewear set! $10 per flight charge.

26.  I would initiate the first all-encompassing Filipino - caregiving units to care for all aging populations from around the world. It would be Called “Disney Care International.” Folks who need this care will be in the tens of millions. It would be as if they were going back to their childhoods.

27.  I would not start an airline. For the danger of all kinds of customer issues from a-z that could and would arise. I would, however, look at the opportunity to lease flight crews and some air equipment. And fly folks for special promotional occasions.  The planes would be wrapped like a Disney Bus of course. 

28.  I would start a Military Discount Program and take care of our vets at all parks globally.
