I can do ANYTHING!!!" -my 5-year-old

I can do ANYTHING!!!" -my 5-year-old

Do you want to have TRUE confidence?

Be a kid.

They are hard-wired for confidence, as proven by my new 5-year-old (his birthday was last week), and out of nowhere he came to me singing,

“I CAN DO ANYTHING, I can do annnnyyything!!!!”

Before you give me a parent of the year award, I don’t actually remember saying those words to him, and I realized kids just by nature are fearless.

They have this deep instinct to accept themselves as they are because they haven’t learned otherwise.

It’s not until outside forces creep in… a put-down, a comment, some subliminal messages hiding in conversations, or words said outright in our society.

That’s when we begin to question ourselves and our abilities.

Remember, confidence and arrogance are very different.

Confidence is believing you can do anything despite any circumstance. Arrogance is thinking you’re good at everything. Pro tip: The most arrogant people are the most insecure and lack confidence. Ironic, right?

So in those moments when you feel or struggle with confidence…

“I really messed that up.”

“I suck at this.”

“What if I fail?”

Just remember the song that is now happily swimming in my head.

I CAN DOOOO ANNNYYYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There’s no real beat to the song or rhythm, but it was the sweetest sound I’ve heard in a long time.

What would you do if you really could do anything?

Now ask yourself, what’s stopping you?
