I am willing to bet that the title of this article got your attention, so let's find out what happened when I Bumped into my Ex-Girlfriend.
This story begins with me lying in bed watching the 6 am ABC Eyewitness News.
While watching the conclusion of a lighthearted story, the news anchor ended the segment by stating that today was World Book Day, which for some odd reason, captured my imagination.
So in the spirit of World Book Day, I decided to carve out some time this morning to finish reading the latest book I am reading for my book ?? club.
All I needed to do now was figure out where I wanted to go to read, meditate, and then journal my thoughts.
After thinking about some places where I could go, out of the blue, the Water's Soul sculpture area popped into my mind, and just like that, I knew that was the perfect spot. Let's go!
So after getting dressed, I rode the elevator down to the first floor, had a friendly exchange with the concierge, went outside, and made my way to the Starbucks just two blocks away to pick up a venti hot cup of coffee. ??
A few minutes into my walk with my blonde roast coffee in my left hand, I spotted the Water’s Soul sculpture, which stands approximately 80-feet tall, with the midtown Manhattan skyline blending nicely in the background.?
I then proceeded to walk ???? towards the Hudson River waterfront and the pier where Water's Soul sculpture sits.?
After landing on the dock, I quickly located my favorite table at this particular pier, opened my ?? book, and began reading.
Friends, I must have been sitting at the table for 25 minutes straight reading when suddenly, I heard footsteps on the pier combined with someone huffing and puffing, fastly approaching ???? in my direction!
The noise broke my concentration, so I shifted my head and eyes in the runner's direction and saw that it was a woman dressed in bright yellow and black, now right up on me.
When we made eye contact, to my surprise, it was my ex-girlfriend. I was surprised because, as I remember, she's not a morning person; therefore, she's not someone I would ever expect to see out jogging early on a Saturday morning!
Once she realized it was me, she immediately stopped running, turned around, walked over, and gave me a big warm hug. ??

It was the kind of hug that I could feel deep down in my soul, sensing that she was genuinely excited to see me.?Moreover, her reaction was not surprising, as this is the typical reaction I get when someone randomly encounters me out and about in Gotham City.
Just kidding. LOL! ??
She then sat next to me on a nearby wooden bench, and we engaged in a spirited 30-minute conversation, reminiscing about our most memorable experiences together.
After catching up and making plans to meet for Sunday brunch, she went back to running with an extra pep in her step due to the Anthony Sledge effect she had just experienced and was still processing.?LOL!
As for me, I found our encounter truly inspiring, which warmed my ?? heart. As you might expect, I quickly began journaling ??? my thoughts about this spontaneous and lovely experience in my iPhone journal app.?
Closing Thoughts
Well, friends, it's time for me to finish reading my book and then get on with my Saturday—the end. ??
Until we meet again, have a fun weekend!
