I Believe in You, But More Importantly You Believe in Yourself

???? ???? ????????????????????, ?????? ???????? ???? ???????????????????? ?????? ???????????????????? ?????????????? ?????????????????? ?????? ???????? ?????????????? ?????? ?????????????????? ?????? ???????? ?????????????? ????????????.

There is a magic in believing in yourself.?Even in the midst of ambiguity, grief, unemployment, and the many other life stressors we are experiencing, some people have a core of strength within themselves: ????????-????????????????.

The social cognitive psychologist, Albert Bandura, gave us the theories of social cognition and self-efficacy. Essentially, his theory is that people engage in activities where they believe they have the competencies needed to achieve their goals. These are not forced or demanded; we create and choose the goals for ourselves. Experiences, social environment, and emotional states lead to a high sense of self-efficacy.?

His research led to discussions for realistic optimism.?Yes, we can accomplish and succeed at whatever we put our minds to.? Unlike manifesting where one expects the Universe to provide anything we put our dreams to, if visualizing leads to committed and determined action, then it is possible.

Being proactive is about taking control to make things happen rather than watching things happen. It has three key attributes: It is self-starting, change oriented, and future focused.?

Believing that we have the power to change our futures leads to visualization and positive anticipation.?Research has shown that future-focused act alone can raise our levels of endorphins!???

Yet, when we have a growth mindset and believe that we can accomplish anything that we literally put our minds to – and put in the work to get there regardless of how long it may take to create a new reality – that is how we become more resilient in the face of uncomfortable circumstances.

Briefly, individuals who believe their talents can be developed (through hard work, good strategies, and input from others) have a growth mindset.

In the face of challenges (who has not experienced some in the last 18 months?), persistent effort and focus despite the obstacles and setbacks allows us to move forward optimistically.?We may meet with resistance from colleagues or family; however, we cannot control anyone else’s behavior but our own.?

Acknowledging that the power to change your life is in your own hands rather than believing that the world will either provide or deny, you become stronger mentally and emotionally.?You recognize the need for giving serious thought to how to deal with barriers.?

This does not mean that you don’t feel anxious or insecure at times. That is the natural ebb and flow of sensitive human beings to recognize that life has ups and downs.?We all have different genetics, personalities, and life experiences that remain with us and affect our triggers and emotional responses.

Being proactive means taking what we have, or have not, been given and finding a way to make life better and create positive changes.?The end result is still unknown – like all the millions of people resigning their jobs and trying to change careers or pivot to a field that provides more meaning and satisfaction.

When I told my family that I was going back to school to pursue my Master’s degree in Industrial & Organization Psychology, they were supportive.?Of course, I first had to describe what it is, how it is used, and repeat what it is called numerous times.?I still do. Some told me that I was “inspirational;” it made me feel a bit like Grandma Moses.?

However, I knew that I wanted my future to be different than my past and to be respected and valued for the benefits that I can bring to my next position.?As I know better, I can do better for myself and particularly for others.

This does not mean that I don’t feel anxiety or question what the future will look like when I am done.?Of course, I do – the future is still uncertain and unwritten.?Like many, we are in a liminal state between here and there with optimistic hopes and ideal goals.

However, actively taking charge to bring some change into your life in one way or another provides us with a positive striving for mastery that excites us and brings variety to our lives.?This past year, some have learned a new language, begun to tap dance, or learned how to bake.???Many of the new connections and activities we engaged in added to our well-being.

Knowing that whatever you set your mind to and being willing to put in the time and effort because you believe that you can succeed is high self-efficacy and boosts our feelings of resilience.?

In this case, it is true that if you believe you can, you are halfway there. In the middle of the craziness and unexpected, that is something to be very excited about!

Our mindsets make a difference! Kudos to you ???? for going after your degree even though you had to explain what it is! And yes, I can definitely relate to having to explain!
