There is an ongoing issue within the sales industry. I was part of the problem.

I'm back to work after 14 months travelling Latin America.

Maintaining top billing status across three succesful businesses over 20 years is not easy. And it was no coincidence either. Did I only ever care for results? For a large chunk, unfortunately, yes. If I could do it all over again, would I treat those around me the same way? Absolutely not.?

The wellbeing of the sales team (and myself) was far less important than the results.?Eyes on the prize, stop at nothing. I take full responsibility for my actions and how I managed and spoke to those around me. This article details how I plan to execute a long-overdue response to that...

Since C***d 19,?#wellbeing?and?#neurodiversity?within the workplace are hot topics. With good reason. We all need to be more aware of how to manage each individual’s complexities. As a result, the job complexity of a sales leader has increased. Sales businesses and divisions need to continue to focus on deliverables and targets.

Individuals are just that: individuals. Are sales environments doing enough to truly embrace that? There's got to be a way to move away from the one-size-needs-to-fit-all revolving door culture?

?

We are currently witnessing a wellbeing revolution.?

The companies that are out there embracing their diversity, demonstrating their will to learn and authentically adapt, they are winning the battle for the best talent. They retain talent. Their people excel.?

?

Do all small - medium-sized companies have the resources and techniques to manage this effectively?

?

I have had a lot of time to reflect, plan and learn new things. I want to make a positive impact on the sales industry. I’m excited (and a little nervous!) to announce that I am in the process of becoming a?#coach. I aim to support Sales Professionals and teams that share my belief: A healthy pipeline created by healthy people brings better, longer-lasting results.

?

How can I help you or someone you know today??

As I take my first steps into building this business, I’m offering a limited number of slots for?#free?online coaching. I will listen to the individual, assess their barriers, understand their assets and develop bespoke coaching plans that will play to that individual’s needs, promoting their greatest strengths. After a short course with me, clients will have more confidence in their approach and, subsequently, more conviction in their delivery with a style that feels authentic to them.?

?

Who do you know that could be interested? A Business School?#graduate? Someone in their first sales role or someone promoted from a junior to a consultant role? A team member currently challenged by a dip in figures? I would love to coach them for free.?

?

(Please note that I am not an expert in mental health and will not be coaching individuals who may require more qualified support)?

?

If you are interested or know someone, please share this article with them and ask them to reach out. I would be delighted to have an initial informal chat with them to explore how I can support their current journey.?

?

My most significant areas of expertise are within?#recruitment?and?#softwaresales?with a demonstrable track record in both

?

A bit of background….?

Now is my time to give back to the sales industry. It gave me so much: Travel. Lifestyle. My first property. I have achieved what I consider success. I don’t think I got there by being the best version of myself;

?

For many years I showed very little interest in my team as individuals. Just results. Maybe this was the norm 10-15 years ago. I don’t know. Was this a true reflection of me as a man outside the office? I don’t think so. I never thought so. I didn’t know any better but I rejected chances to learn techniques. Results were consistent. Why change.

?

(This is no reflection on that company. Their director is still my biggest mentor. They were always innovative in ways to improve culture and continue to evolve as times change.)

?

I started a career in software sales in 2019.?#ceridian ?had wellbeing running through its veins. I spent a lot of time discussing wellbeing and related topics with clients.?#hr ?Directors and C-suite had goals on?#wellbeingatwork. I learned a lot.?Helen Seale?was my line manager. Helen would coach and guide me but I made the decisions. This approach felt fresh and new. Light years ahead of my micromanagement style. During this time, I also found a new passion for helping colleagues. I offered advice. They listened. I listened to them. I loved to receive that Teams message from a colleague “are you free for a chat?”. I was a trustworthy member of the team. I liked seeing my colleagues succeed. I liked to be part of that.

?

I am ready to use my experience and passion to positively impact the sales industry.

?

I am still travelling South America and will be set up with a new base with strong Wi-Fi in February 2023. If you or anyone you know are interested, please let me know.

Thank you for reading and your help.
