I never heard the word busy from a successful person
Slow down and remember this: Most things make no difference. Being is a form of mental laziness — lazy thinking and indiscriminate action. Tim Ferriss
Full transparency: I have a 6-figure job and a 6-figure business. Combined, they made me join Canada’s top 1% income earners. I am a tax resident of Canada, for now, and a Citizen of the World (a topic for another article)
I’m never busy! Moreover, I hate using or hearing the word.
During my path of immigrating to 3 countries, building a business, failing at others and working in a startup hedge fund, I’ve connected to a high number of successful people, and guess what?
None of them ever told me they were busy; they create time for a conversation, a hangout, or a collaboration. Some will make time to give support and help.
I go to the gym, do various outdoor activities, get my work done, and serve my clients in everyday adult life. I’m never busy and am not a genius or a hard worker.
I am actually lazy but efficient.
In this century, being busy has become a badge of honor. We’ve turned the word “busy” into a synonym for success or a symbol of status or coolness.
No, it’s not! At least to me!
I challenge my clients to stop using the word and see how they transform; as a result, their lives transform for the better.
Using the word busy is one of my metrics to predict failure or an imbalance in one or all areas of life.
You are not busy; busy is a cover-up for lack of clarity, integrity, indecision, or a need to show off.
Before working on these tfour pillars, stop using the word busy at any price.
It’s scary; you’ll find yourself in the front of a pile of fundamental stuff that has to get done.
Your blessings and potential are on the other side of “busy” because you will start doing what matters.
You Are in The Show-Off Business
“Confidence is silent, insecurities are loud.”
98% of people are in the show business.
Enough with putting a show for others. Your life isn’t an Instagram story or a TikTok reel. A wealthy man one’s said “Success is what you do when nobody is watching.”
It’s about who you become and what you can offer to others, rather than what you can show to them.
You have a need to look busy, you aren’t truthfully busy. You are looking to join the trend of “the show off culture”, so you can be judged cool by who you think are the cool kids.
You don’t need to be busy, you need to be productive.
If you say you are busy. I would ask: Show me the work? Show me the receipts? Show me how many times you’ve tried and failed?
Nothing is wrong with being appreciated for your work, talent or what you have to offer. However, you won’t reach that point by loosing yourself in the show-off culture. It will only keep you busy.
Once you come from a genuine place of creation and self-expression, you’ll reach the points of “So good that they can’t ignore you” and “ So valuable that they pay you”
Lack of Integrity
“Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.” — C.S. Lewis
You are not busy; you can’t speak your truth, you can’t Be your truth.
It’s called Integrity.
Hey! Let’s grab a coffee next week. Oh! No, I am busy. You want to avoid going out to a coffee with that specific person. Is this scenario familiar to you?

How you do one thing is how you do everything. This lack of Integrity will slip into how you talk to yourself, do business, and run your life.
According to Bob Proctor, Self-Mastery is the ability to give yourself an order and follow through.
A person with no integrity will never follow up on the promises she gives to herself.
Living with Integrity has nothing to do with being honest with other people. It’s all about you, it’s about your life. It starts with you first!
A person with Integrity is a perfect business partner; a person with Integrity is a match to attract great opportunities. A person with Integrity will follow through on the promises she made to herself and make daily progress.
I only say what I mean. My close friends understand it, but others think I am weird.
Speak your truth kindly and with sensitivity.
A study on Integrity in the workplace showed that Integrity increases productivity by 400%.
Imagine how your life would look if you started acting with integrity rather than pretending to be busy.
Indecisiveness
“Indecision is the paralysis of opportunity.”
Some people are addicted to staying in the “in-between” phase. It gives them a secondary gain.
Making a decision means moving forward, stepping into the unknown, doing the work, and paying the price. However, staying indecisive means staying in the comfort zone and receiving pity or sympathy from others.
It’s a state of apathy; nothing is moving, but one feels busy in the head because of the heaviness of the emotions that come with it.
Not making a decision makes things pile up on your plate; it causes a feeling of being overwhelmed and the illusion of being busy. Busy in the head, but nothing concrete in the real world.
Each time you feel overwhelmed, it’s a sign that you are avoiding something; make a decision or set an intention NOW!!
With movement comes freedom. Movement begins with an intention.
How could this help you? It helps you to get out of vicious cycles. Transform what’s in your head, the dream world, into a concrete decision or real-life project.
Lack of Clarity
“Clarity is power. Lack of clarity is disempowering.” — Tony Robbins
Imagine you are in your car. There are only two scenarios, nothing more:
You are either clear or unclear.
Regardless of the distance of your trip, knowing your destination is more straightforward than not knowing your destination. It has only three steps:
Your destination will organically determine your actions, thinking, and words. You won’t feel busy. Instead, you will feel on purpose.
If someone calls you to give them a lift going south while you are heading north, you will immediately answer sorry, I’m heading north. You will speak with integrity and conviction.
You don’t need to appear busy when you are clear on your purpose!
If you don’t know your destination, you will mindlessly drive in your care loosing time and resources. Obviously, you will end up where you’ve started or in the middle of nowhere and look busy. Busy getting nowhere!
A clear purpose determines the following logical action. Unclarity will make you lost in a sea of decisions, tasks, and possible outcomes.
There is never a time management issue, it’s always a purpose management issue.
There is never someone who’s too busy. Start looking at things as they are, speak your truth and face what you have been avoiding. Your life will have less noise, you will live in alignment and achieve the desired success
