I attended the Red Carpet Case Competition held at the Center for Business Communication within Purdue University's Daniels School of Business this week. There were nine teams participating in this competition, including two first-year teams.
As a first-year business school student, I am keen on business case competitions. Even though I've only been at Purdue University for a month, everything feels unfamiliar, especially the classmates with whom I'm not yet acquainted. This posed some challenges in forming a team for the competition. Nevertheless, I managed to team up with Karla Lee and Terence Qin to participate in the competition.
When I initially stood in front of the lecture theater at Purdue University to present our case plan, I couldn't help but feel nervous due to the unfamiliar environment. However, the judges sitting in the front row greeted me with encouraging smiles, and the other team members nodded in approval when they met my gaze. This friendly atmosphere dispelled my sense of unfamiliarity quickly. We were the second team to present. After attentively listening to the first team's case analysis, I gleaned insights from their experience and incorporated elements of their opening speech into mine. It was like a last-minute blade-sharpening session before heading into the battlefield (Haha).
Despite our team members being strangers to each other initially, we strengthened our friendships through sincere cooperation during the competition. I am extremely satisfied with the hard work put in by our team. Additionally, we had the opportunity to learn from the strengths of the other competing teams.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Professor Doug Pruim , Stefanie Maxson , Filippa Rodríguez, Emeline Papp , and the other judges, as well as everyone who made silent contributions to the success of this event.
