I Was Arrogant, Desperate, Hopeful, and Delusional Part Eight
Arrogance works in two ways.
Yes, arrogance will get you in trouble, but it will also push you to take new chances. And desperation, when approached correctly, is the best motivation. If you aren’t working when the wolves are at the door, you aren’t going to succeed.
Arrogance and desperation are also great teachers, and this time, I learned my lesson. Up until this point, I found myself with an empty pipeline and no other clients whenever I lost a consulting gig.
But this time, as I was working with the screaming owner, I was developing an online platform for my eye care writings. Mid-consulting gig, I launched an online, seven-book series called Prosight Success.
I was selling the series for $169, and the package came with a free, one-hour consultation. My end-goal was to sell a few copies and increase my eye care consulting leads. Simultaneously, I increased the cost of all my softcover sales and even released a 7-in-1 textbook version. All of these efforts were to some degree successful.
I also began a 3 day a week schedule for blogging and emailing. This work brought me work from my dream client…strangers. Prior, all my prior clients had come through referrals, but I was finally reaching beyond my immediate circle.
But the downside of arrogance reared its ugly head, but that’s a story for part 9. ?
