“I Applied and Got My Loan Sanctioned in No Time:” Puja Majety on Her Study Abroad Journey

Puja Majety spent most of her life navigating the bustling streets of Hyderabad. Even now, she often speaks of the city’s vast expanse, its sound and the population that inhabits it.?

In her professional life too, as a product manager, she knew exactly how the routine worked and what it takes to be a good manager. You need to juggle tasks efficiently, take into consideration different aspects of the decision making process besides taking things as they come.?

After nearly five years of working in various roles at Wells Fargo, it came time to look beyond her boundaries. “So I basically wanted to do an MBA… I was looking for options that gave me the same type of skills but not a traditional MBA.”?

This is when she came across an MBA for Engineering. Given that she had a background in engineering it made the most sense for her to pursue it. Eventually, Puja settled on Duke University, and got through, but now struggled with figuring out the finances.?

“My family doesn't come from a really well-off background, so it's not like I had any collateral to show for any of these banks to give me a higher loan."

"I needed a higher amount than other banks or other NBFCs were willing to offer on collateral-free. So I think at most I was probably getting about 45 lakhs,” she said.?

This would cover about 80% to 90% of her tuition, but not her living expenses. Given the circumstances, Puja said that she most likely would have to take up a part time job in order to cover the rest.

This is where she spotted the other players in the market, including Leap Finance. “I hadn’t heard of Leap from someone in particular, I stumbled across it on Google, and applied and got my sanction letter just in time.”?

Compared to the other players, Puja says, Leap was willing to cover everything from tuition to living expenses. “The whole process wrapped up easily, and given my constraints I thought it worked out pretty well for me.”?

Now Puja considers herself a local brand ambassador for Leap, given the impact it has had on her life. “I constantly get questions from people about the process… and now, even one of my cousins is using Leap,” she says.?

“You should take a peek into my Linkedin messages, more than recruiters it's usually people who are asking me about Leap these days,” she adds.?
