I am straight but I don't hate!
At the Delhi Queer Pride 2023

I am straight but I don't hate!

Pride Month in June is an important day that details the history of the LGBTQ+ community finding acceptance in the world. I am not going to take you through its history but the journey from LGBT to LGBTQ+ has been both challenging and exciting. I am an ally, and this means that I actively support and advocate for the rights and inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals. It involves educating oneself about the issues facing the LGBTQ+ community, speaking out against discrimination, and promoting acceptance and equality in all areas of life. To stand with LGBTQ+ individuals, listen to their experiences, and amplify their voices.

The support from allies can make a significant difference, creating a more inclusive and understanding society where everyone is respected and valued for who they are. But being an ally to the LGBTQ+ community comes with its own set of challenges. Social pushbacks, social ostracism due to cultural norms, emotional fatigue and personal impact top the list.

Despite these challenges, being an LGBTQ+ ally is also a deeply rewarding role that contributes to creating a more inclusive and equitable society. Allies play a crucial part in challenging discrimination, supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, and fostering environments where everyone can thrive.

This is not a propaganda but my observation and experience over the years to inspire and strive and contribute in creating an inclusive and supportive environment for everyone. A chance to stand in solidarity.

Happy Pride!
