I am standing with you
I was told that I, as a CEO of a company, should be careful about commenting on social and political issues in public. If in doubt, I was told to stay away from anything that has a hint of political issues on social media platforms.
As a result, I remained silent too many times. I worried about what others will think of me and of the company I represent. However, I realize that I have let down so many people who I cared for because of my own personal concern of potential repercussions of my public stance.
Not today. What's happening in our country is not right. On Friday, the American Psychological Association called racism a pandemic, and it's not going away. Yet, I am hearing from too few CEOs about this, me included, until now.
This is about who we are.
This is about human rights. About what our past generations fought their lives for. About our future generation. About what America stands for. About why I immigrated to America and what I love about America: equal opportunities for all.
Stories of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Eric Garner, and Michael Brown represent more than 1,200 Black women and men (including children) who were senselessly killed in police shootings in the last 5 years. They are not strangers to me and all the CEOs out there. The victims, their family members & their loved ones affected by racial pandemic are employees, customers, and users of our companies. They need us more than ever. They need to hear from us and know that we got their backs. It's our responsibility as CEOs to take a stance.
Today, my heart cries with them. I am mourning for them. And I am standing with them to fight racism. As CEO, I will be clear with my team and the entire Wonolo community: racism of any kind will not be tolerated.

3 年Why am I being treated unfair? I recently worked 8 or 9 straight days at Every Plate in Totowa, New Jersey! The production manager has recommended that I return immediately every day! My name is: Oscar Carrion! Recently I witnessed a Wonolo supervisor, basically accusing & belittling a co-worker! Then when things didn’t go her way she had 15 workers removed! How can that be possible! Ever since that date, I haven’t received any job listings for Every Plate, in Totowa, New Jersey again! I think the issue should be investigated because we as essential & exceptional workers had nothing to do with her problems & issues! So why should we be punished & penalized?

4 年True, all lives matter. This is a business unless you were called out for something then u shouldn't feel pressured to speak on political issues. Yes, this is a political issue & so wut if people say u should speak up & if someone does speak then it should include everyone because there isn't any difference from the 1800 hundreds till now the only difference is that everyone has cameras and people are way too sensitive nowadays & its bullcrap. Stay in your place & run your company & only speak on issues only when they pertain to u because it's a bout everyone not just one kind of people, people need to grow the F up..
