But, I am searching for a job through LinkedIn.

But, I am searching for a job through LinkedIn.

Only if “commenting for better reach” could have got people job, Job Portals would have shut down by now. Job search is a process, Like, comment, share doesn’t land you up with the job offer.

How is LinkedIn different from other sites & how can it benefit you?

LinkedIn is used by many like twitter or FB, for some it’s a dating site too, but the biggest USP of LinkedIn is it allows us to share our core competencies and gives us a professional platform to highlight our skills that too for free.

A platform that can be used to connect with Professionals and Experts from the Industry across the Globe.

But, I am here only for a job search, how to get the right Interview calls?

LinkedIn is not a job portal; it has bought professionals on a single platform but no one is obliged to hire from LinkedIn despite the fact that hiring is one of the biggest USP of this platform.

There are 2 rules to get hired through LinkedIn.

Rule1: No pleading statements

I have lost my job in covid/ I have a family to feed/ I have loans on me/ I am seeking help/ I am frustrated. I need someone to like comment or share my profile and the latest one circulating is, "Hey Folks, I am looking for a job, would appreciate your support if you hit like or share this so that people know I am looking for a job."

There is no harm in saying or writing all this but the only thing that you will get is “commenting for better reach”. Don’t trust me, check people’s comment on such posts.

The intent is not to mock anyone, but go back and read such statements from jobseekers and see what kind of image you get about them in your mind. Do you feel sympathetic or you feel like connecting with them professionally?

HIRING IS A PROCESS. No one simply hires you without any relevant openings.

Rule No 2: Market yourself through your skills/ core competencies

Use this platform to share your skills and then seek helping hands. Share your achievements, Your core competencies, your work (sample projects). Anything that will help others see what you are really good at and towards the end, simply write you are open for opportunities.

You may not be seeking a Sales or a Marketing job, but without marketing yourself or selling your skills, No one will hire You.

Happy Job search and happy Profile building!!!! Good Luck
