I AM RAISING MONEY FOR EMMAUS HAMPSHIRE HOMELESS COMMUNITY

I am walking 75 miles of the SW Coast Path; this was all set up for March but Covid 19 has scuppered this till later in the year...but be assured all being well I will do it, and importantly the charity I am supporting needs help right now. As I have before I am walking to raise funds to support The Emmaus Homeless Community in Winchester https://emmaushampshire.org.uk/ : this brilliant charity helps over 30 homeless people "Companions" at any one time, providing accommodation, care, sustenance, and most importantly helps give each Companion a purpose as they must work daily in the Emmaus Community and are then helped to build themselves back up and work their way back into Society. I will be joined on the walk by one of the Companions and one of the Trustees and we plan to do this in 4 days.

This fundraising will help Emmaus create 8 new rooms within their existing building this year; the top floor of their warehouse will be converted to achieve this and so 8 more homeless people can be accommodated. Also and more urgently Emmaus is usually self-funding day to day through the efforts of the Companions and support staff collecting donated furniture recycling it and selling it through three retail outlets but all that has had to stop because of Covid 19. It costs ￡26,000 per month to run The Community so fundraising for existence and continuity is now also a necessity.

So please help if you can; I appreciate there are many requests for financial help right now; this is such a worthwhile cause to help the existing Companions get through this difficult period and then to help us finish off the new accommodation which I fear will be in strong demand as we deal with the fallout of the virus.
