I am a proud Yorùbá man

I am a proud Yorùbá man, deeply rooted in the timeless virtues of Omoluabi , the embodiment of good character, respect, integrity, and humility. These qualities are not merely taught but are embedded in our DNA, shaping who we are from birth. It is with great pride that I celebrate my Yorùbá heritage, a culture rich in tradition and guided by the principles of ìwà Pèlé (gentle character) and uprightness.

Last night, Ademola Lookman reminded the world of our greatness by being crowned Africa's Footballer of the Year. His victory is not just a personal achievement but a testament to the resilience, excellence, and virtue that define the Yorùbá people. He stands as a beacon of inspiration, showcasing what it means to carry the essence of Omoluabi on the global stage.

However, I must admit that life’s challenges can sometimes lead others to misjudge us. Despite this, the values instilled in us remain steadfast. Wherever I find myself, I am deeply aware that my conduct reflects not just me as an individual but the entire Yorùbá race. My actions must always align with the noble virtues of Omoluabi, serving as a living representation of our people’s dignity and grace.

To all Yorùbá sons and daughters across the globe, let us hold steadfast to these virtues, for we are ambassadors of a proud and illustrious heritage. No matter where life takes us, let us remember to live by the principles of ìwà Pèlé and Omoluabi. These virtues are our guiding light, our strength, and our legacy.

As we celebrate Ademola Lookman’s triumph, let us also celebrate ourselves by ensuring that our actions whether small or grand reflect the integrity and excellence of the Yorùbá spirit. Let the world see who we are through our deeds, for we are a people of honour, courage, and humility.
