I am the "P" in AMPlified

The journey we travel through life is always an interesting one. I have had the pleasure of coaching many tremendously successful and talented professionals through some major life and professional’s changes over the last decade, but when you face your own leap of faith crossroads, it feels TOTALLY different!

Experiencing the deeply personal journey of starting a company and launching AMPlified Search gave me a completely new appreciation on what I ask people to do for a living; make a career change or walk through a new door of opportunity.

End of summer of 2017, I organized and moderated an AIA panel with Jim Mark (SOM), Meghan Webster (Gensler), Larry Kearns (Wheeler Kearns) and Meg Osman (CannonDesign). In many ways, that panel was not only my professional project, but a personal one. I have always felt compelled to be a student and find myself consistently drawn to leaders with passion for their profession and a deep sense of responsibility to the next generation.

During that hour, we talked specifically about how people are led along a journey through their personal and professional lives. So many people reach a series of “doors” that no one can force them through, but they need to consciously chose to step through on their own. Literally at that moment in the panel discussion, I realized I had been at this “door” pacing and reluctant about what was on the other side. I decided that it was time. I needed to put my big girl panties on, stop ignoring the knock on the other side of the door, and WALK THROUGH!

Fate is what puts opportunities in front of us, but our destiny is ultimately determined by our decisions.

I believe we are in full control of our choices and that our actions, in response to what fate offers us, matter. We are here to learn lessons and the hard decisions we have to make are what helps us grow as humans. Our destiny is not something we can sit by and let happen to us. We need to take action on the opportunities we are presented with; fate may open doors but if it's our destiny, then WE have to walk through them. We can either let fate lead us through life or we can shape our own destiny.

Starting AMPlified Search Solutions with Sean McBride and Juanita Amartey has been an incredible experience and one that is hard to put into words. After many years of helping shape other people’s destiny’s; it was time to shape our own.
