Chapter 8: The Warrior of Light- Sheshnaag II
Venkat Subramanian ? September 2024
The moment Sheshnaag stepped onto the soil of the mortal realm, an unsettling energy filled the air. The banyan tree, still standing tall, no longer appeared as an ordinary tree—it now radiated a sinister aura. The roots began to twist and writhe, as if sensing the arrival of its ancient nemesis. The demon Typhan, sealed for thousands of years within its bark and branches, stirred.
The skies darkened. A foreboding silence settled over the park, only broken by the distant rumble of thunder as storm clouds gathered above. The air thickened with tension. Sheshnaag, now in his powerful human form, stood firm, holding his divine trident, a weapon forged to both preserve and destroy. His eyes glowed with ancient wisdom, and his presence was calm yet commanding.
Suddenly, the banyan tree began to change. The bark cracked, and through its twisted, ancient trunk, a deep, guttural growl echoed across the park. Slowly, a grotesque face emerged from the splitting wood, forming from the darkened sap and twisted roots.
Typhan, the ancient demon, was awakening. His voice, deep and raspy, boomed through the park, shaking the earth beneath our feet. “Sheshnaag! You may have come for me, but I will not go down quietly. I have waited eons for my freedom, and now I will consume this world, as I once sought to!"
The roots of the banyan tore from the ground, rising like massive serpents, twisting and turning, aiming to crush anything in their path. They lashed out at Sheshnaag, each one imbued with the demon’s strength, striking with enough force to shatter the ground. But Sheshnaag was ready.
With a graceful spin, Sheshnaag wielded his trident like an extension of his body. As the demonic roots lunged toward him, he struck them down with swift, precise movements, severing each one with divine energy. His trident, glowing with celestial power, sliced through the air, leaving arcs of light as it cut down the attacking roots.
But Typhan was not done. His face contorted in anger as he let out a roar that shook the heavens. From deep within the earth, more roots erupted, accompanied by dark vines and creeping shadows that reached out like claws, attempting to ensnare Sheshnaag. The demon’s fury manifested in every twisted branch and creeping tendril, trying to overwhelm the divine serpent in human form.
For a moment, it seemed as though the darkness of Typhan would consume everything.
Sheshnaag stood still, closing his eyes. The storm clouds rumbled louder, and the air crackled with divine energy. Then, in a flash of motion, he raised his trident high above his head. A golden light enveloped the weapon, growing brighter and brighter until it became almost blinding. In one swift, powerful thrust, Sheshnaag drove the trident deep into the earth.
A shockwave rippled out from the point of impact, sending waves of energy throughout the park. The very ground trembled, and the sky above crackled with thunderous fury. Typhan’s roots and vines froze in mid-attack, as if caught in a paralyzing spell.
Sheshnaag's eyes, glowing with divine fury, locked onto the demon. "You were defeated once, Typhan, and now your time has come. There will be no rebirth, no freedom—only oblivion."
The trident pulsed with a blinding light as it connected to the core of the earth itself, channeling the energy of creation and destruction. A bolt of divine power shot from the tip of the weapon, aimed directly at the demonic face emerging from the tree.
Typhan howled in fury, his voice shaking the very air. His grotesque face twisted in desperation as the beam of light struck him, cutting through his form with searing power. The ancient banyan groaned and cracked under the immense force. Chunks of bark and roots splintered off, and the tree, once towering and strong, began to crumble.

But Typhan was not finished yet. In a last-ditch effort, the demon unleashed his full power, causing the skies to tear open, releasing a torrent of dark energy. The very air around us distorted, and the ground cracked under the immense weight of his wrath. The face of Typhan stretched grotesquely, as if trying to escape its prison, releasing a final, deafening roar of defiance.
Sheshnaag, unmoved by the demon’s chaotic power, raised his hand toward the sky. "Enough."
With that single word, the light from the trident intensified to a blinding crescendo. A burst of pure, divine energy exploded from the weapon, engulfing the entire banyan tree. The demonic face twisted and screamed, its voice growing weaker and more desperate as it was consumed by the radiant force.
The roots of the tree, which had once lashed out with terrifying strength, now shriveled and turned to ash. The bark and branches, once the prison of the demon, disintegrated into dust, carried away by the wind. And Typhan, the ancient terror, was no more.
The sky cleared. The storm clouds dissipated, revealing a peaceful dawn. The air, once thick with the demon’s presence, was now calm and serene. All that remained of the banyan tree was a circle of scorched earth, a reminder of the battle that had just taken place.
Sheshnaag, his divine form glowing faintly, lowered his trident. His expression softened as he turned toward me. "It is done," he said quietly. "The demon is defeated. Balance is restored."
As he spoke, the divine energy surrounding him began to fade. His form shimmered for a moment before slowly dissolving, his mission complete. The warrior form of Sheshnaag faded into the ether, leaving me standing alone in the quiet park.
The battle was over. Typhan, the ancient demon, had met his end at the hands of Sheshnaag, as foretold by the gods. And though the banyan tree was gone, its dark legacy erased, I knew the world was now a safer place, protected by the divine forces that watched over it.
