If I am going to write a "sci fi" story, what will be the plot?

Introduction

Note: I am deviating from the usual technology specific or career oriented topics. So this is purely for entertainment value, leisurely read and improving my writing abilities.

To be honest , I am not a voracious reader. I have high regards for story writers who come up with interesting plots to integrate technology into their writing. I have read some books and got inspired to write. So one day,I asked the question in the title to myself and came up with the the following answer:

If I am going to write a "sci-fi" story, My goal will be to insert the latest interesting technology news into my plot, such as the one below:

“Deepmind” beats South Korean GO player Lee Sedol".

I looked into the basic concepts of AI and machine learning.

Arthur Samuel defined machine learning as :

"Field of study that gives computers the ability to learn without being explicitly programmed".

I want to develop several plots to integrate AI / machine learning concepts into my story. I have started working on several plots as described below.

Plot 1 – Politics :

• How “Deepmind” or “Watson” will fare when asked to compete for presidential nomination?
• What will be steps that machines will choose to win a nomination such as choosing a party or ideology etc.?
• What goals need to be defined?

The story can evolve into the events leading up to how the people react to having an AI machine compete and if somehow a machine can win the nomination,

• Will they vote for it or with the process of recursive “self-improvement” can the machine attract the voters based on their choices?

Plot 2 – Sports:

• How will the machine fare as a coach/GM of a team?

The plot will involve to choose players depending on the specific abilities and coach them to get the maximum out of their potential in addition to winning the championship and games.

 Plot 3 – Corporations:

• How will the machine, if entrusted as a CEO compete with the likes of current brilliant CEOs to bring in the maximum shareholder value in a chosen industry?
• Will they be affected by usual human tendencies such as taking short-cuts to maximize gains?

 Plot 4 – As a Writer:

In this plot, the machine will be taught to write stories or become a novel writer.

• What will happen if a machine is asked to write a story with the above mentioned plots?
• ( Again with recursive self-improvement)
