I AM GOING ALL IN ON LOVE

I AM GOING ALL IN ON LOVE

#love

There has been much discussion reflecting on the last year and focusing on the next one. Last year, I was focused on loving myself. The first step in the #theharlessmethod is to love yourself.

My New Year resolution is to spread love to others.

Why is love a subject for a professional social media application?

Because love is missing in so many organizations.

When I came to Linkedin, I was burned out of nursing and I was looking specifically for answers and hope that my profession could become better. What happened was I found leaders, businesses, and most importantly people who care and want to see the same things develop.

Answers are funny. The more you search for answers, typically, the more questions you develop. As an avid researcher, I have chased so many rabbits in the quest for macro solutions to the problems I see in Nursing.

  • I researched economic models that would address the problems.
  • I researched leadership models that would resolve these issues.
  • I researched psychological models that would tackle these challenges.
  • I researched scientific models that would provide solutions.
  • I researched business models that would offer answers to these concerns.
  • I researched philosophical models that would explore these matters.
  • I researched historical models that would contribute to solutions for these problems.
  • I researched cultural models that would influence these issues.

At the end of all my searches, I kept coming back to one simple solution...

Love

"Love is the motivation behind everything good in the world." - Matthew Harless

I can't tell you how many conversations I have had with experts in their chosen field and every single leader came to the same conclusion.

Love

Why do you start a business? - Love

Why do you try to make it better? - Love

Why are you trying to maximize your profits? - Love

Why are you...... (fill in the blanks) - Love

Where is your love being directed

You see, executives, board members, and CEOs are motivated by love. Managers and direct caregivers are motivated by love as well.

Love is not the issue.

The issue is what do you love? Where is your love directed?

  1. Love yourself - Yes, I believe that you need to start with a deep and passionate love for yourself. That is a basic human need. If you don't have love for yourself, you lose that primal instinct of self-preservation. You need to eat, drink, and have shelter. The basics of life. It is also important to have more that you need. It is valuable to your dignity and human existence to make enough money to meet your personal needs and have something extra at the end of the day.
  2. Love God - The belief in a higher power has universal benefits to your life. You cannot help but see it in healthcare. People with a belief in God have better outcomes. Hope comes from this space. When nothing else makes sense, this belief can help you through difficult times. My source of love comes from the story of how God came to earth to live as a human being, suffered, died, and came back to life as a sacrifice for all of my mistakes. It gives me hope that my mistakes can be forgiven, and it allows me to forgive others.
  3. Love Others - Because I can forgive others, I can look past their mistakes. Because I can look past their mistakes, I can begin to see past the ugly mess that we find ourselves in, which is the result of thousands of years of muck. Instead of feeling stuck in the dumpster fire, I choose to look beyond the mind field of problems and see the hope we have in others.

My mission statement drives all my decisions.

"Utilize all current communication platforms to share truth, in love, and initiate open dialogue about prevalent human problems in relationship to the grace of God."

How are you spreading love?
