I am not a colored person, Negro, African American but a Black person that happens to live in America.

I prefer the word "BLACK" because our color has been the primary reason for the hate that has been directed at us! ?I reject African America because America has never given us the same rights as every other America.We are no longer African people because everything about our African history has been taken away from us, our color is all that remains. African's from Africa don't want to be associated with us. Because they were told by white people that we are doing good in America. When I went to Africa it took weeks for them to get to know me and trust me. I lived there for 6 weeks in the poorest area. I spent my money there, went to Church there volunteer at their schools and walked the streets there daily. So they began to trust me and get to know me. We don't often spend enough time there to get to know them and for them to get to know us. Our Black color has allowed those that hate us to target us. So we must identify by our color or so called color. I am very proud to be a Black person that happens to live in America. The country that we built, suffered constantly here and that our ancestor's died to try to build a future here since we were captured.
