We would like to introduce you to Constance Langley from our Denver, CO team! Constance works in Customer Service Support and loves tackling the different challenges each day brings. Her meticulous approach guarantees customer satisfaction. Read below to learn more about her thoughts on Black History Month and her professional background.
?
Q: How long have you been in the distribution industry?
A: I have been with Imperial Dade since September 2022.
?
Q: What is your favorite part of your field of work?
A: My favorite part of my work is dealing with different situations every day. I process exceptions for our warehouses relating to missing, damaged, or incorrect products. There are so many variables that it never gets boring. Each phone call, ticket or exception is always different and challenging.
?
Q: What are you passionate about?
A: I am passionate about Art, Black art. Our stories, our beauty, our pain, how we turn struggle into something breathtaking. Whether it’s a painting, a poem, or a song, Black art is resistance. It’s joy. It’s a legacy.
?
Q: What does Black History Month mean to you?
A: It’s the story of our strength, our survival, and our brilliance. It is knowing that we come from kings and queens, freedom fighters, and visionaries who paved the way so that this generation could explore uncharted waters and succeed.
?
Q: What is a moment in Black history that you wish more people knew about?
?A: I wish more people knew about the Combahee River Raid. Harriet Tubman, yes, Harriet Tubman led an actual military raid during the Civil War that freed over 700 enslaved people. She wasn’t just freeing folks on the Underground Railroad, she was leading troops!
?
Q:?Is there a Black leader, past or present, who inspires you?
?A: I could name so many, but Nina Simone. She poured every ounce of her soul into her music and used it to fight for our people. She didn’t just entertain, she educated, she empowered, and she did it all with a kind of raw, unshakable strength that I deeply admire.
?
?Q: If you could have a conversation with a civil rights activist, who would it be with and why?
?A: If I could sit down and have a good, long conversation with anyone, it would be Fannie Lou Hamer. She had a fire in her spirit that couldn’t be put out, no matter how much anyone tried to silence her. She stood up for poor Black people in the 60’s and 70s, for voting rights, for dignity.
?
?Q: How do you see yourself as a role model in the Black community?
?A: I see myself as a storyteller, and a wisdom keeper. I’ve lived long enough to see history repeat itself and I do my best to make sure my daughters and grandbabies understand their history, their power, and their worth.
