COMBATING THE SUNDAY SCARIES!?Seven Ideas to Improve the Upcoming Work Week

Here's Your Sunday Seven on this Halloween Weekend!

1.?Dress up and take a kid trick-or-treating!

Even if you don't have a kid of your own, I bet you can find one who would love to adorn a costume (even a last-minute one made out of an old sheet!) and head out to the nearest town to get some sugar in a pillowcase!

Anyone else remember the hauls of candy we used to get in the '80s? I'm pretty sure my go-to collection vessel was a pillowcase from my Garfield sheet set. There's a throwback!

Shall we also discuss that ONE house that always gave out FULL-SIZE candy? Heh.

Dressing up and running around the streets is fun at any age, and we all know laughter is the best medicine.

As for me? For the first time in my nearly 42 years on this earth, I am GIVING OUT CANDY!

I've never lived in a place where there was a neighborhood dense enough to warrant trick-or-treaters, and I'm oddly excited to be the one on the other side of this fun yearly event (and may just be that house that everyone is going to remember for GOOD candy!)

2.?Buy Your Next Book from the Bookstore.

Amazon gets supported enough, but your local bookstore does not.

I love small businesses - heck, I am one, so let's keep those charming stores in business! There is no better place to pick up an unexpected cover or grab a cute knick-knack, right?

Our local bookstore has "mystery" books wrapped in brown paper. The outside will have a few words to describe the book inside or the book lover who will likely enjoy the contents. It's a fun way to pick up something unexpected and another way to be surprised during this spooky "BOO" time of year!

3.?Speaking of helping out a small business,?check out our FREEBIES! We've got all kinds of good stuff sitting out there on the interwebs to support you in your job search and professional development.

Consider it my Halloween treat to your virtual pillowcase ;)

4.?Moisturize!

How random is this one?

Winter set in here in the Rockies last week, as Aspen received almost two feet of snow that has all us ski hounds watching more reels of powder skiing than you knew Instagram could handle.

The onset of winter also means the heat is on and the air is dryer, so don't forget to lather up your skin to keep hydrated, healthy, and young-looking.

It's the largest organ you've got. Love your skin!

5.?Check in on your romantic life!

Continuing down the Angie-is-apparently-a-wellness-coach-and-now-a-relationships advisor...hey, these things all have WAY more in common with job searching and career success than you think!

Kim Coffin, Sex and Relationship Coach, shared her insights and expertise on this very subject in a previous episode of the No More Mondays Podcast, and it's a great listen!

If things at home aren't going as smoothly as you'd like, don't be surprised if you're performance at work dips. Conversely, if work is stressing you out, pay attention to your home habits. It's easy to take that kind of stuff out on those closest to us without knowing it.

6.?Give Yourself the Time to Be Creative.

Everyone is creative in their own way. Maybe it's with a brush, using your hands to build, making jewelry on a bead loom, doing crafts with your kids, gardening, cooking, making music, or photography.

It could even be cutting well-placed eyeballs in the aforementioned sheet-ghost costume!

Creativity can express itself and many different ways, so allow yourself the freedom of expression. There's something therapeutic in the process.

7.?Check-In on your social media!

What does your social media say about you?

LinkedIn is obviously a VERY important platform to tune into and dial in, but don't forget to take inventory of your Facebook Page, Instagram Profile, TikTok Videos, and anything else out there on the interwebs a prospective employer may see.

Setting content to private and ensuring you have a tasteful profile picture, good cover photo, and censored Featured Images (on Facebook) will ensure there's nothing out there to sway a hiring manager or fact-checker against you and personal hobbies and interests that have nothing to do with your ability to do a job!

This includes setting pictures of that Halloween party where you drank too much ecto punch to "Friends Only."

Ask me how I know.

Happy Halloween!

Your Friend and Coach,

Angie
