Hyundai HX520A L: The Big Yellow in the Diabase Quarry

For the past 10 years, brothers Torsten and Olaf Bohl?nder have been active in the extraction business with their company, Bau-Rec Bohl?nder GbR, currently operating a quarry in Bad Endbach Dernbach near Marburg.

High-quality diabase is extracted there, with the key machine being the 52-ton Hyundai HX520AL excavator. Several times a year, blasting is conducted, and then the new large excavator from Hyundai’s current portfolio comes into action. It breaks down oversized materials and feeds the mobile crusher. The finished aggregates fall onto the lower quarry floor, where they are loaded onto trucks by wheel loaders.

The armored 3.5 m3 bucket was acquired along with the Hyundai excavator and withstands the very abrasive material perfectly. Nils Bohl?nder operates "the beast" and comments, "We saw the excavator at Steinexpo and had it demonstrated to us. The steel construction, the weight balance between the upper and lower carriage, and the sensitive hydraulics convinced me." The quarry equipment is complemented by 600 mm double-grouser tracks, cylinder protection for the piston rods, front protective grille, and central lubrication.

The decisive factor for the acquisition was the desire for a more powerful loader with a longer reach. The mono-boom and 3.40 m dipper now perfectly match the requirements of Olaf und Torsten Bohl?nder Bau-Rec Bohl?nder GbR .
