Hypnosis actually just like a highway !
One of the most common questions asked on Social Media is DOES HYPNOSIS WORK?
This is like asking DOES BREATHING WORK?
And demonstrates the common misunderstanding of Hypnosis.
Hypnosis is a function of your mind, as breathing is a function of your physical system. And just as you cannot (for long) stop breathing – you cannot stop the hypnosis process.
You can refuse Hypnosis on Purpose – such as in a Stage show or Hypnosis as Therapy – but you cannot stop the Hypnosis function.
If you read a book, watch a movie, enjoy music, daydream – you are using hypnosis to engage. Hypnosis isn’t the thing that creates the engagement with these things, it’s the pathway that allows access to the parts of you that enjoy and react to these things.
Hypnosis is the pathway to your beliefs and emotions, and concealed traumas and fears – let’s call that - Your Inner Self.
The supposed gatekeeper to that inner self is what we call the Conscious Mind. The Conscious Mind is a fairly limited part of us– but it is a gatekeeper of sorts.
However, as hypnosis is in constant function, like breathing, it is very easy to access, and use the pathway of Hypnosis to access your emotional side. Most of our lives are driven by our inner selves, the belief systems and emotional levels in us. (Logic and analysis are after the fact processes. You do something them the gatekeeper justifies why it let that intruder in)
Advertising, Propaganda, Political rants, Belief ‘isms’ all use Hypnosis on us – without permission. They use emotive language and colors and music to bring out emotions. And the easiest emotions to reach and activate are fear and anger ( see Political Elections- anywhere.)
Hypnosis as therapy is where the Hypnotist, with permission, uses the pathway of Hypnosis to access, the drivers in your life, emotions, traumas, fear, beliefs and, with permission, brings these things into harmony and balance.
So, you can allow your body to heal, you can allow your emotions to heal, you can allow your body to reset its concept of what is a good healthy weight, you can do anything your Mind allows. And you find out the possibilities of your Mind, by following the pathway there, called Hypnosis. Especially your own inner work called Self Hypnosis.
