The Hype for Nexla is Real
This week wrapped up a summer where multiple Gartner Analysts recognized Nexla for its innovation and ability to truly reinvent how companies work with data. Nexla’s Converged Data Fabric today serves as the foundational layer on which modern companies can build their digital business, and I’m excited to share that Nexla has been included in three 2020 Hype Cycle reports:
- Hype Cycle for Data Management, 2020
- Hype Cycle for Data Security 2020
- Hype Cycle for Enterprise Information Management 2020

While elaborating on solutions like Nexla that include Data Operations Gartner notes that “shifting to continuous and reliable delivery of data will impact the speed and effectiveness of analytics and BI initiatives, continuous intelligence efforts, operational data uses, and data provided for machine learning applications, among other data-reliant activities.”
In addition the Gartner coverage this summer included Nexla in the Market Guide for Data Preparation Tools. This adds another feather to Nexla’s prior inclusions in Market Guide for Event Stream Processing, as a Streaming Data Integration Specialist.
“Which tool does Nexla replace?”
This is a question we often get asked which is synonymous with the old model of point tools to solve point data problems. This approach worked in the 1990s and 2000s, got stretched to its limits in 2010s and is already crumbling in the 2020s.
We started Nexla because our experience had shown that discovering, integrating, preparing, validating, and operating as well as other related activities are part of one user flow and point tools don’t serve users well, and from there came the concept of Nexla Converged Data Fabric.
Integration and operations have already been converging as Gartner notes that, “Gartner expects vendors to begin to use this term to denote an entire category of tools encapsulating self-service data preparation, streaming data integration and, likely, traditional data integration.”
A converged design with continuous reliability means data projects can go into production in a snap. For example, now if you prepare data you don’t need to take that code and hand it to an engineer to deploy and run in Spark. Instead, all the data prep functions and code automatically get versioned and applied to data streams or batches. The result is zero to production in seconds.
Going forward…
The ongoing pandemic has further reinforced the need for businesses to accelerate the adoption of data driven digital strategy across all aspects of business – Marketing, Sales, HR, Operations, Product, Finance, etc. At Nexla we believe that this demands a fundamental rethink of data technologies to help companies become digitally agile. We concur with Gartner about the shift to “continuous and reliable delivery of data” and towards multipurpose tools that further remove complexity from organizations going digital in running their business.
