The Hype: American football Europe

American football is enjoying growing popularity in Germany and Europe. But what are the facts that have led to this hype? And how can the sport be further professionalized in the future?

The Beginnings

The most important point is, of course, the sport itself. American football is action-packed, strategic and offers plenty of excitement. But without the right marketing, this boom would hardly have happened.

An important milestone was the broadcast of NFL games on ProSieben MAXX from 2015, allowing fans to watch the games live for free and at reasonable times.

In addition, the relaxed and authentic presentation by Frank Buschmann, Jan Stecker and Patrick Esume provided the best entertainment.

The Switch

In 2021, the broadcast of the NFL switched to RTL. This enabled an even greater reach and contributed to the further popularization of the sport.

The founding of the European League of Football (ELF) in 2021 also created a professional league for European teams. The ELF has quickly developed into a serious competitor for the established European leagues.

The Future

There is no doubt that American football has great potential in Germany.

However, there is still a lot to be done to further professionalize the sport. One important point is to increase revenue.

This can be achieved through larger TV contracts, more sponsors and the expansion of merchandising activities.

The Conclusion

American football has become a popular sport in Europe. With the right development, the sport can become even more professionalized in the coming years.
