Hyland Summits 2023: reflections on this year’s global tour

This year’s Hyland Summit world tour was bigger than ever, visiting 12 cities across five continents. More than 1,500 Hylanders, customers, partners, press, analysts and – with some hard work and good fortune – future customers, have come together to learn and share best practices for seamlessly connecting content, data and processes across the enterprise. ?

It’s better when we’re together? ?

One of the greatest honours that comes with my job is getting to travel across the world to meet local stakeholders in person. I know that my counterpart in Latin America, Edgar Novoa, who has hosted Hyland Summits in Mexico, Colombia and Brazil this year, feels the same. As with many of our customer and partner organisations, Hylanders work remotely at home and in offices across the globe. The Hyland Summit roadshow presents us with an incredible opportunity to get together, network, share ideas and collaborate; there’s simply nothing like meeting in person to best establish and grow relationships inside and outside of the business. It’s a privilege that we’re given this opportunity and we’re thankful that our customers and business partners join us in such numbers and with such great enthusiasm to make these events the success they have become.?

A global business with big local ambitions? ??

As always, we worked hard to specially tailor each event’s specific themes, speakers and sessions to best address the local market and audience needs. Hyland’s ongoing success and continuing international growth is squarely thanks to the local networks of partners, customers and employees that we bring together and invest in, at the Summits and beyond. We all succeed together, and the Hyland Summits are a powerful reminder and celebration of those local networks and that ethos.?

Celebrating our customers’ successes?

As we’ve grown over the years, our customers have grown, too. And for me, our customers’ success is a good indicator of Hyland’s own. After all, one of Hyland’s core values is “Customers are our partners.” This year’s Hyland Summits are just one way we’re helping our customers succeed by streamlining access to knowledge sharing, networking, and collaboration opportunities. We are extremely lucky to have so many customers who value that partnership and are prepared to join us to present their Hyland digital transformation success stories at the Hyland Summits. This year we were joined by a diverse array of customers, but it was fascinating how there were clear recurring themes across the stories they shared:??

The need to modernise and siloed repositories and paper-based systems: In Sydney we heard from MAMPU – the unit of the Malaysian government tasked with modernising the country’s public sector - who turned to Hyland’s Alfresco platform to revamp its outdated records system. It now empowers tens of thousands of government personnel spanning over 315 government agencies and made millions of citizen interactions more seamless.? ?

The need for information governance and achieving regulatory compliance: We were joined in London by British insurance giant Aviva, which gave us a master class in migrating from a legacy ECM to modern content services. In the process, the company unclogged innovation bottlenecks, slashed operating costs and ensured GDPR compliance.??

The importance of scalable Digital Asset Management: Car manufacturer Renault and retail giants Amazon and L’Oréal all shared stories of the Nuxeo Platform’s role in revolutionising management of these organisations’ vast digital asset libraries. To keep innovating and get the right creative or information to the right stakeholder at the right time, you need a DAM solution that won’t let you down.? ?

Leveraging the agility of cloud: Global publishing powerhouse Oxford University Press shared all the benefits that a container-based cloud deployment approach for content services can bring, including enhanced agility, scalability and efficiency for its cloud-native, content-driven business applications.? ?

The value of OnBase in delivering better healthcare outcomes: We learned from Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, Melbourne Health, The London Clinic and UNC Health how invaluable the OnBase Platform is for getting the right information to the right clinician at the right time and improving patient outcomes in a variety of care settings across the world.?

Technology that supports your goals, today and tomorrow

During the events, our global and local product experts shared some exciting updates about what’s new in the Hyland product portfolio, including:?

  • New Product! Hyland Intelligent Document Processing, which delivers AI-powered document capture, separation, classification, and intelligent data extraction technology.?
  • The latest Alfresco platform releases that provide significant updates across the platform, including new customisations options, simplified solution deployment, optimised ongoing administration and more.?
  • New Nuxeo Platform releases that bring enhanced capabilities, including automating content cleanup, providing a flexible governance approach, supporting compound documents and new connectors — and lots more besides.?
  • OnBase App builder available in version 23.1 - Provides an entirely new way of thinking about, creating, building, designing and shaping OnBase interfaces to tailor the experience specific to particular user types.?
  • Exciting news about Hyland Experience! The first Hyland Experience services will be available to all our Alfresco, Nuxeo, OnBase and Perceptive Content customers in 2024!? Hyland Experience Insight is our upcoming AI service providing content enrichment, Generative AI capabilities, advanced analytics and much more. Hyland Experience Automate empowers users to build, deploy and manage intelligent, content-centric automations and applications in the cloud.

We also had an evocative live performance by our sales engineering team: The team powerfully demonstrated the power of AI and machine learning combined with Hyland’s process automation technologies to automate critical business processes, leading to increased customer satisfaction, increased productivity, and less human error.?

Enjoy some down time and appreciate where you are!??

As well as all the productive meetings and learning opportunities, it’s important to me to find time for some light relief during almost 5-weeks on the road - a chance to relax and consider what I’ve experienced at the Summits. For me personally, I had the pleasure of getting my running shoes on and hitting the pavement for 10 kilometre runs along the Rhine in Düsseldorf, the Seine in Paris, the Thames in London, took in the best view of Sydney with a run by the magnificent Harbour Bridge and finished my tour enjoying the architecture of Madrid. I also got to practice my French, German and Spanish – with varying degrees of success; (I’ll let the people I conversed with tell you how I did).??

But most of all it was the personal connections – the great conversations and laughter that happen when you’re lucky enough to get together with the people whose ongoing success is so deeply intertwined with your own.??

Thanks to everyone who helped make the Hyland Summit 2023 tour such a great success. I can’t wait to do it all again next year.? ?
