hyh January Roundup
Herts Young Homeless
Breaking the cycle of youth homelessness through education, advice and support for young people and their families
Happy New Year (if it's not too late!)
The first month of 2024 has come and gone in the blink of an eye. With the arrival of the colder months, we know that our services are more vital than ever for young people and families facing homelessness.
January has been a busy time for our services but also our fundraising team who have been taking some time to reflect on 2023 and plan for the year ahead.
This is an important time for our strategic aims and goals; supporting more young people and their families across Hertfordshire to reduce family conflict and prevent homelessness and achieve more positive outcomes. We will connect with 40,000 young people by 2026.
We couldn't do this without the help and generosity of our amazing supporters so to everyone who supported us in 2023, thank you.
Keep reading to find out about just three ways you can continue your support over the next few months with the #PlanforThe136k campaign and our first two events of 2024.
We are a proud member of the #PlanForThe136k campaign.
Together with?over 120 charities across the UK we have formed a collective fighting to end youth homelessness.? 136,000 young people approached their council as homeless last year but we know the true scale is a lot higher.?But there has been no response from the government to resolve this growing crisis. This can’t continue.
The good news is that we know how to help young people facing homelessness. We do it every day. And with the right political will and support, services like ours and all the other charities in this collective can be there for every young person who needs us. We need a #PlanForThe136K.
And we need your help. As a collective, we have launched a petition to make the government take notice of the youth homelessness crisis. This is a?quick and easy way that you can make a real difference to every young person in the UK who is unhoused or unsafe.
We have already nearly hit the 10,000 signatures needed for an official government response. If we can reach 100,000 the issue will be debated in the House of Commons.
If you could sign and share with your teams and networks, we’d really appreciate it. Together we can deliver a #PlanForThe136k and keep young people safe, housed and on the path to the lives they deserve.
