Hydrogen in the lecture hall and on the street

Dear Hydrogen change-makers,

Do you follow the debates on Hydrogen’s efficiency and feasibility in various applications like I do? As LinkedIn is THE digital networking platform, this is often where supporters and opponents come up against each other. Regardless of what the original post was about, there is always one person out there who will dispute it. This was taken to the extreme recently in the comments left on the obituary written by Arno A. Evers about his old friend and great H2 academic, Dr. Carl-Jochen Winter. The latter had taught countless pupils and students about the properties of Hydrogen and the laws of physics. Sad. And somehow senseless here.

The question remains: Does this kind of argumentative conflict bring anything? I’m absolutely certain: No, it does not. But because actions speak louder than words, we should all keep going and make it our daily mission to provide new proof as to how, where and when Hydrogen is a feasible option!

One way of helping existing staff make a better assessment of Hydrogen technology is through further education. And, of course, a better knowledge of Hydrogen means we will actually see a greater number of feasible Hydrogen applications. Hence, the TAE – Technische Akademie Esslingen e.V. , for example, is offering a new (German-language) study program from next year – a Master of Science in “Wasserstofftechnologie und -wirtschaft” (Hydrogen Technology and Hydrogen Economy). Prior to that, German speakers can benefit from a specialist conference on Hydrogen and fuel cell technology on November 8 and 9 entitled “Perspektiven der Wasserstoff- und Brennstoffzellen-Technologie”: The event is targeted at decision-makers who wish to gain an overview of the opportunities and prospects for Hydrogen as well as engineers working in the development and application of new energy technologies.

And before you immediately click reply after reading the next paragraph: I know we won’t be ramping up the mobility sector with automobiles (rather with trucks and heavy-duty vehicles, plus transport for inland waterways, for instance!). I also know there are some fantastic studies on the complementary scale-up of charging and H2 infrastructure.

Nevertheless, we at Hydrogen Moves are keen supporters of the 24H2 Challenge which is coming up on October 6 and 7, 2023. There’s no time to lose! Register now for this exciting rally across Europe and show up with your fuel cell vehicle – be that a car, a 7.5-ton truck or something bigger! The start is in the Netherlands at Plug Power (Frames Group) in Alphen aan den Rijn.

You can sign up at https://waterstofchallenge.nl/en . It looks amazing fun. What do you have to do? Drive to various checkpoints, snap photos at UNESCO sites, upload team photos and discover and photograph other partners.

Show the world how enthusiastic you and your company are about Hydrogen, or maybe just because you want to see the refueling stations used to the max ;-)

Spectators can watch the competition LIVE here: https://elektricitijdrit.nl/nl/e-vents/24h2-eu-2023

Keep moving!
