HYDROGEN as FUEL:

There is much talk nowadays about using hydrogen as fuel. It is so because it is a very clean fuel, and water is the only byproduct that is generated after its combustion.

But then we wonder - why is this solution not gaining momentum at a rapid pace.

Well, here are a few pointers that may help clarify the topic.

• Hydrogen currently is majorly being produced from Natural Gas. Thus, we anyway end up using Natural Gas.
• Hydrogen can also be produced from the electrolysis of water, but this process requires electricity. Currently, fossil fuels are the main source of electricity generation.
• Cooling, transporting, and storing hydrogen again consumes fossil fuels.

But with an increase in the install base of renewable sources of energy, and continuous research in the efficiency increment of hydrogen engines, hydrogen might well turn out to be the fuel of the future!!!
