Hybrid Publishing - best of both worlds

Hybrid Publishing - best of both worlds

Molten Publishing

I like to be in control of my own destiny. I help organisations become more successful by working with them to slay their corporate zombies (we are approaching an Armageddon), and I have a series of powerful messages to share.

It makes great business sense for me to compile my thoughts, ideas, strategies and techniques in book form. If this is my desire, I have a few hurdles to overcome.

Firstly, I’ve got to write the thing, which takes planning, development, reflection and a detailed process of drilling down on my ideas to mine the nuggets of magic that are a must to share.

Even then, I’m far from finished if I want the manuscript to flow, be easily digestible and to be read, enjoyed and assist my audience in making positive adjustments based on my story.

My editor would remind me, at this point, not to forget pace and tone and other manuscript enhancements to give my words even more impact. Oh, and Nick, don’t ignore proofreading, typesetting and a full line edit. Fortunately, I have an editor to take care of that stuff as it’s not really my thing. Us business writers are ideas people after all.

Getting the book written and in awesome shape is going to be tough enough if I really want it to reflect my expertise and be so much more than a collection of ‘what Nick did’ stuff committed to paper.

I’m going to rely on my editor a lot to take care of all the things that aren’t my strength – this makes perfect business sense too. Outsourcing the things I don’t enjoy and am really not that good at is surely in the business coaching manual on page one.

I’ve self-published before and even then, I outsourced a lot of technical stuff and the creative magic that goes into the ideal cover design.

This time, I’m much more organised and the process is much less painful for me. I can focus on the bits I am really awesome at and all the rest is taken care of. I’m really excited to see the cover design ideas and see my book standing proud alongside any of the amazing business books that have aided my professional journey.

For me, the Hybrid model, where the author makes an investment and enters into a partnership with the publishing company, makes perfect sense. I don’t want to self-publish, nothing against that market, but I don’t have the time or the expertise to make a self-published book look, sound, feel and read like a professionally published tome.

I’m convinced that this is the model for me – so much so, that I invested in a company that takes care of this mysterious and magical part of the process. I am also a full-paying client, so I know it makes financial sense too.

My book will soon be globally available; it has to be, my editor is on my case and I have a schedule to follow (thank goodness). For me, my business aspiration requires a really engaging, powerful and thought-provoking book. My Hybrid journey will deliver massive return on my investment, and I can hardly wait to share my story.

Watch this space…

For business professionals who have an amazing book buried deep inside or are even ready to unleash it on the world, check out Molten Publishing or speak to my editor. I’ll happily put you in touch.

This is the route I'm taking, too, Nick with someone I met at a networking event.
