So you've heard about Agile. Maybe you've even heard about Waterfall. But these are just 2 project management methodologies. All of them are great and tools for specific circumstances. But reality often does not fit these ideal conditions that the methodology would prefer? What can you do? Do you bend to the inconveniences of sticking to the methodology and all the churn that comes with it?
???????????
You could do that. Oooooooor ... you can blend methodologies with each other. Welcome to Hybrid! Strictly speaking, the hybrid could be the blending of any 2 methodologies, but usually, this refers to the combination of agile and waterfall. There is no exact recipe for this because once you start tailoring the methodology you should go all the way and tailor it to the needs of your project.

Just imagine: A classic hybrid blend would be a project that uses the detailed and rigid Waterfall approach for long-term planning, creating a work-breakdown-structure, initiating risk management, etc. but applying the agile method to the execution of the project. That way the team can get a good sense of the tasks and overall scope while leaving them with enough freedom to adapt and deal with changes along the way while reevaluating after each sprint.
