??? How do you come to trust someone online?

??? In virtual life -- whether working remotely or interacting on LinkedIn -- trust develops slowly as you spend time interacting and assessing each other’s character and qualities.

??? Trust is essential for value to develop a relationship. You can build and sustain trust based on your own mature behavior, humility, emotional intelligence (EQ), and decency (DQ).

??? Here are 3 main indicators of trust, each with 4 components.

?? 1. COMPETENCE

??? This is your ability to do things efficiently and successfully, such that others clearly see your skills and knowledge on display. This shows that you are dependable, reliable, and predictable. Competence is shown in 4 main ways:

1. Organized: Do your homework and be prepared, show up with questions, research, or solutions that show you are a motivated team player.
2. Reliable: Be consistent in your behavior and communications. Stick to your plans. Don't inconvenience others. Ensure your behavior matches your values.
3. Timely: Avoid under-delivering and be precise in what you can achieve within a given time frame or set of conditions.
4. Predictable: Clearly explain your motives, values, criteria, and actions in a dependable way.

?? 2. EMPATHY

??? This is the quality of being well-meaning and the degree to which you have other's interests at heart. Be motivated to go beyond your self-needs to cater to the team’s needs. This comes down to empathy, shown in 4 main ways:

1. Similarity: Identify how your values overlap with and are shared by others. Relate to others and engage authentically. Be honest about any challenges.
2. Kindness: Small gestures make a big difference. Ask how others are feeling, truly listen, show genuine concern and caring, and act on it.
3. Restraint: Be sensitive about the words you use. Give others a chance to speak. Be mindful of boundaries and privacy – personally and professionally.
4. EQ: This all boils down to emotional intelligence (EQ) and a mature ego, along with decency (DQ).

?? 3. INTEGRITY

??? Adhere to strong moral principles with honesty and frankness. Articulate your values explicitly and allow team members to see your values in action. They will have faith in you and invest their trust in you. Here ware 4 ways:

1. Loyal: Show your support and allegiance to others. Endorse the reputation of others and their mission. Give credit to others always.
2. Listen: Listen is an anagram of silent. Always truly hear and understand what is said, considering all viewpoints. Be reflective and deliberate, not impulsive.
3. Mentor: Go beyond your personal duty to do better than expected of you. Instead, put others first and mentor them to help them achieve excellence.
4. Honesty: Always be honest with yourself and others, in all things.

?? IN SUM ...

??? All this will especially be the case in the Metaverse, where absolute credibility needs to be established and verified.
