Hybrid Meetings: 3 Ways To Include Remote Guests

There’s no doubt about it - hybrid meetings are here to stay.

One of the biggest challenges they pose is that remote guests often aren’t on an even playing field with those in person. It’s human nature to focus on what’s physically closest to us, so those who are dialing in often times get short shrift.

Here are three things you can do to assure that those who are remote aren’t left out.

1. Webcam placement - Assure that everyone can be seen, and they’re facing the camera.
2. Start first with remote attendees - When asking for input or brainstorming, invite a virtual attendee to contribute first before those in the room.
3. Pretend that the camera is a person - Speak and gesture to the camera as well as your in person audience so your remote audience will feel included.

Keeping everyone engaged and feeling included is crucial to the health of your team. These simple steps will help bridge the virtual divide between those in the room, and those connecting remotely.
