Hutt City Council 10 Year Plan

Hutt City Council 10 Year Plan

Here is a series of maps that illustrate how councils might be operating at the moment. It might be a little difficult to believe, but Hutt City Council plans to change the rating of two parcels of land at Baring Head, several parcels within the East Harbour Regional Park and also the mouth of the Hutt River. These areas will be changed to the residential rate.

The original map supplied by HCC is provided in a link below. Also in the folder are some of my own maps which show the areas. The purpose of the change is argued by the Council to be to bring in line the definitions of land with the District Plan. However, a careful examination of the areas affected suggests otherwise. HCC has been tasked with finding areas for housing development within the district. It seems highly unlikely that they would target these areas, but the evidence I have seen for other areas suggests that common sense is not a factor they are taking into account. Please note that you have only a matter of days to get a submission in if you are interested in any of these areas. Please note that in at least one of these areas, the land appears to have been taken under the Public Works Act.
